The former Strictly Come Dancing pro, 26, admitted that while the celebrities did wrap up in thermals, bosses turned on heating lamps to keep them warm at night.
Speaking to brother Curtis on their AJ vs Curtis podcast, he said: ‘OK, so we had heat lamps above, and you probably couldn’t see on camera.
It WAS hot! I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here’s AJ Pritchard has revealed the Welsh castle was secretly heated with lamps, leaving him so hot he’d sleep in the nude
‘So the heat lamps would maybe turn on at about 2am and about 5am to make it feel warm in the sleeping areas.
‘So one night I went to bed thinking, ‘Oh My God I’m going to be absolutely freezing’, so I put on a million layers, and had a hot flush at four or 5am.’
Curtis couldn’t hide his shock at learning the camp was secretly heated, and admitted the camp could have been very different if the celebrities were struggling with the freezing temperatures.

A bit hot! AJ confessed he’d get so hot at night when the heating was switched on he’d have to peel off his layers of thermals
He said: ‘No I don’t think they should have put the heat lamps in there.
‘I think you would have got a lot more… I don’t want to say drama, but a lot more excitement from the fact you would have been struggling.’
But AJ insisted conditions in the camp were still challenging, and he was forced to wrap up in thermals during the long days in the camp.
He said: ‘It was cold, I always had my long johns on but, yeah, one or two days you would wear, for example, long johns, trousers, top…’ leading Curtis to joke he must have ‘slept naked’ in the camp.
Gone: AJ was the seventh campmate to be eliminated from I’m A Celebrity, leaving the castle alongside Mo Farah
This year’s I’m A Celebrity was relocated from the warm climes of Australia to Gwrych Castle in Wales, leading to concern from fans the celebrities would spend three weeks battling the freezing November temperatures.
Snaps of the redeveloped Gwrych Castle showed bosses had installed heating to keep the castle at a habitable temperature, and for the first time celebrities had a warm shower.
AJ also defended himself for calling out campmate Shane Richie over his poor management of the washing up, which led many viewers to claim it caused tension between the pair.

AJ said: ‘Curt, if you don’t stand your ground in those situations people are just gonna walk over you. I may be small, but I’m still going to give my opinion.’
Agreeing with his brother, Curtis added: ‘You were right to, and you know what, that was one of the only moments when people weren’t laughing when it happened.
‘So I think everyone was on your side with that one, AJ.’
Despite defending himself for addressing Shane’s washing up skills, the star has previously reiterated that all the campmates got on extremely well.

The former Strictly dancer also previously addressed reports that he was given a dressing down from bosses after he tried to smuggle mouldy mushrooms from the Castle Coin Challenge to feed the hungry celebrities.
The dancer allegedly got told off because he tried to smuggle mushrooms back to camp, but producers saw what he was up to when he was caught on camera.
A source told The Sun: ‘AJ thought it would be funny to try and sneak some of the leftover veg, that would just go in the bin otherwise, back to camp.
‘As part of the challenge they had very grim looking vegetables, including mushrooms, to feed the horse. But they’re all so hungry that even mouldy fruit and veg is appealing to them.
‘He had to come clean once he realised what he’d done had been picked up by cameras and microphones meaning he went back to the camp empty-handed.’
