It’s the reunion Home and Away fans are waiting for. 

But now it seems that former lovers Dean and Ziggy may never get back together, if the emotional new trailer for the long-running soap is anything to go by. 

Channel Seven released another dramatic new teaser for the show on Wednesday, showing bad boy Dean (Patrick O’Connor) fighting for life in the ICU with Ziggy (Sophie Dillman) by his side.

In the teaser, footage of their love story over the years played in between scenes of the graphic car crash he was involved in.

Dean can be seen telling Ziggy he loves her, before she stands by his bed side in hospital.

‘I forgive you for everything,’ Ziggy tells an unconscious Dean, before being caught by boyfriend Tane Parata (Ethan Browne). 

Underneath the clip, fans said they loved the idea of the on-off pair together, with one writing: ‘I love them.’

Another added: ‘They belong together.’

In previous trailers, it was revealed that Dean was involved in a car accident alongside characters Mia (Anna Samson) and Nikau (Kawakawa Fox-Reo). 

While pregnant Mia and Nikau manage to escape the wreckage, Dean is left fighting for life.

Dean and Ziggy had a brief romance on the show but broke up after Dean kept a secret from her. 

Despite moving on with new partners, the pair still had a flame for one another. 

In real life, actors Sophie and Patrick are actually together and happily dating. 

Home and Away continues on Channel Seven on Monday August 9.
