J Balvin and girlfriend Valentina Ferrer announce they are expecting their first child together

J Balvin and his girlfriend Valentina Ferrer confirmed they are expecting their first child together, after months of rumors.

The artist, 35, and the former Miss Argentina, 27, announced the baby news on the cover of Vogue Mexico, released on Thursday morning.

The cover featured a black and white image of J Balvin holding Valentina’s growing midsection while she rocked unbuttoned bottoms and a crop top.

The Instagram caption shared on Vogue Mexico‘s page had a quote from Valentina that called the baby a ‘him.’

Valentina donned a black short sleeved fitted top with a high neckline; she paired it with matching black jeans that she wore open at the waist.

Her tresses were loose in natural waves around her; the beauty had her hands on her head.

J Balvin was standing behind her with his tattooed hands around her waist and resting on her midsection.

Only a glimpse of part of his face is seen as he is standing almost directly behind her for the black and white image.

The cover didn’t have any words on it besides Vogue Mexico in black and red tones.

Vogue Mexico posted the cover to their Instagram page, with a caption that read (translated from Spanish): ‘A picture is worth a thousand words. Posing for the Vogue Lens. #ValentinaFerrer and #JBalvin confirm that they are expecting a baby and will be parents very soon.’

It continued: ‘I did the test in the bathroom and I repeated it three more times because I did not believe it. What surprised me the most was the first time I felt him kick.’

Valentina called the baby a ‘him,’ and last week Hola! magazine reported that they were expecting a baby and that it was a boy, who they said they will call ‘Rio.’

The couple began dating after she appeared in his 2017 music video Sigo Extrañándote.

She played his wife and mother of his child in the music video.

The lovebirds made their red carpet debut in 2018 at New York Fashion Week.

Fans suspected the baby news when the model was spotted out in February 2021 in what appeared to be a baby bump.

In 2018, Valentina, who was crowned Miss Argentina in 2014, told the NY Post that she wanted ‘a big family – three or four kids. I’m a simple girl.’

They were rumored to have briefly split in 2019 before reconciling in 2020, but it was never confirmed.

J Balvin, who was born José Alvaro Osorio Balvin in Medellin, Colombia, is one of the best selling Latin artists – with over 35 million records sold globally.

In November 2020, J Balvin shared his struggle with anxiety and depression with his fans via his Instagram stories.

The acclaimed reggaetón artist told his followers that the reason he’s been absent from social media is because ‘like any human being, I’ve had some challenges,’ he said in the video – in Spanish.

‘This time it’s anxiety and depression. I don’t like acting or faking my happiness or pretending that everything is perfect,’ he said.

‘I’m like any human being. I’m fragile and vulnerable, possibly even more than all of you. Soon, the storm will pass and I’ll be back cracking jokes with you all. I’m not here to act but to be real and share what I’m feeling in the moment.’

He ended it by using his real name, José, and said: ‘I love you all.’

In summer 2020, J revealed publicly that he had been diagnosed with COVID-19; he announced the news in mid-August, and revealed that he ‘got it bad.’
