J.P. Rosenbaum officially files for divorce from Ashley Hebert nine months after announcing split

They first announced their split nine months ago and now J.P. Rosenbaum and Ashley Hebert are officially divorcing.

Rosenbaum, 44, filed paperwork to dissolve their eight-year union in Miami-Dade County, Florida, on July 28, Us Weekly reported on Wednesday.

The reality TV couple first met in 2011 when Ashley, 36, was starring in season seven of The Bachelorette following her elimination from the previous season of The Bachelor.

As part of their split, Ashley and J.P. will have to decide on a custody arrangement for their two children Fordham, six, and Essex, four.

When they first announced their split, the couple released a statements explaining that their children would be their priority moving forward.

‘It is with a heavy heart that I share with you that, after months of separation, Jp and I have amicably decided to go our separate ways,’ Ashley began in a statement shared on social media in October 2020.

‘We created the most beautiful children and shared memories that will never be forgotten,’ she added, before getting to the heart of their split.

‘Our differences have taken a toll on our relationship and after years of attempting to repair the damage, we’ve decided that it is in our family’s best interest to create new and separate lives for our children,’ she said.

She then asked fans to ‘respect our privacy’ as they both, ‘move forward with the newness of our lives.’ 

‘Our ultimate focus is to create stable and healthy lives for our children. Thank you for your love and support throughout the years. Wishing you all love, happiness, and good health,’ she concluded.

J.P. Rosenbaum shared his own heartfelt message to his followers to reveal that he and Ashley were ending their marriage.

‘I have written and rewritten this post dozens of times and each time I feel the same level of disbelief and extreme sadness,’ he began at the time. 

‘While I realize that this will come as a complete shock to everyone, I can assure you that this is something that has been developing in our relationship for quite a while. It is with a heavy heart that I share with you that after months of separation, Ashley and I have amicably decided to live our lives apart from one another,’ he said.

He stressed that there is ‘no one to blame’ for their split, and ‘no event that triggered this decision,’ adding, ‘we’ve done absolutely everything we possibly can to salvage this marriage.’

‘I think we’ve both come to realize that we are just two very different people, with very different personalities and perspectives, who just don’t see eye to eye on a lot life fundamentals, those which are the building blocks for a happy and healthy marriage,’ he added.

‘We have created the most beautiful, sweet and loving children, and have created so many unforgettable memories that we’ll always cherish. Our differences, however, have taken a toll on our relationship and after years of attempting to repair the damage, we’ve decided that it is in our family’s best interest live our lives apart,’ he continued. 

Rosenbaum proposed to Herbert in the Season seven finale of The Bachelorette, and she accepted. They were married in December 2012, which aired as a TV special just weeks later.
