Jack Vidgen is cruelly trolled over his ‘Barbie doll’ transformation

The Voice star Jack Vidgen has divided opinion on social media after debuting his glamorous new look in a video shared to Instagram last week.

Some concerned fans said he’d taken his androgynous transformation too far, while others praised him for his style and self-confidence.

Responding to a news article about Jack’s makeover, one critic wrote on Facebook: ‘He went from decent looking to looking like a Barbie doll.’

My, how you've changed! Jack, who rose to fame as a baby-faced teenager on Australia's Got Talent in 2011, looked almost unrecognisable in the video

‘This makes me so sad. He was a good-looking boy with so much talent. The change in him is dramatic and so unnatural,’ another said.

A similar comment read: ‘You really looked more amazing the way you were born with natural beauty.’

Several trolls suggested Jack, 23, had undergone plastic surgery – but the singer has always maintained he’s never gone under the knife, and has only had facial filler.

‘More plastic than a Tupperware party,’ one hater wrote, to which another replied: ‘Looks like he’s made of plastic. Why, why, why? He was a great-looking young man. It beggars belief why people do this to themselves. Insecurity perhaps.’

Responding some of the negative feedback, one of Jack’s supporters wrote on Facebook: ‘Stand up for who you are and what you believe in, Jack.

‘You have an amazing voice and if the changes to your appearance make you feel better and more confident, then go for it. Good luck with your career.’

Another fan chimed in: ‘You know what? If a person chooses to change their appearance because they want to, good for them.

‘So many awful comments from grown adults, yet I’m sure you’re all against online bullying. Well done, role models.’

Jack, who rose to fame as a baby-faced teenager on Australia’s Got Talent in 2011, looked almost unrecognisable in a video posted on social media last week.

He wore dramatic makeup, including fake lashes and rhinestone eye stickers, and drew attention to his full pout with a shiny lip gloss.

Fans will remember Jack became a cause célèbre last year when he returned to the spotlight as a contestant on The Voice Australia.

While he impressed the judges with his vocal talents, viewers were baffled by how much his appearance had changed since his early career.

Many suspected cosmetic procedures were behind Jack’s altered appearance, and he later confirmed ‘it’s pretty obvious I’ve had my lips done with fillers’.

But he denied having ‘plastic surgery or any surgery’ to change his looks.

‘These types of things [cosmetic injectables] are common now, especially for people my age – it’s not a big deal,’ he told The Daily Telegraph in May 2019.

In the same interview, Jack compared filler to wearing makeup or getting a tattoo.

While he was appearing on The Voice, he told The Kyle and Jackie O Show he had no regrets about enhancing the size of his pout.

‘I had an insecurity with my lips [being thin] and I had the opportunity to not be insecure anymore and I did that and I’m happy,’ he said.

After winning Australia’s Got Talent in 2011, Jack released two successful albums, even reaching No. 3 in the ARIA charts with his single Yes I Am.

After parting ways with record label Sony Music Australia in 2014, he tried his luck in Los Angeles for a year before returning to Sydney.

He mostly stayed out of the spotlight until The Voice, which relaunched his career.
