Jake Quickenden reveals he struggled to take his clothes off for The Real Full Monty On Ice

He is joining a host of celebrities taking their clothes off to raise awareness of cancers which affect intimate areas of the body.

And Jake Quickenden has revealed he struggled to strip off for The Real Full Monty On Ice after ripping his pectoral muscles during an interview on Monday’s episode of Lorraine.

The former X Factor star, 32, who underwent a four-hour surgery earlier this year, wouldn’t be drawn on how he injured himself, said: ‘My arm’s in a sling. Usually I find it quite easy to take my clothes off but this time I found it quite hard.

Oh dear: Jake Quickenden has revealed he struggled to strip off for The Real Full Monty On Ice after ripping his pectoral muscles during an interview on Monday’s episode of Lorraine

‘I had surgery on my shoulder, this whole show is about taking my clothes off so it was hard.’

Keeping the circumstances of his injury a mystery, he said: ‘I’m not actually allowed to say how I did it, your pec muscles attach to your bone and what I did was rip it, so I can’t move it at all.

‘I can just literally do this, we get on with it don’t we, there’s much more important things to do in the world. It’s just an amazing message… I turned up the day after my surgery I was in a bit of a bad way I can’t remember what I said.

He added: ‘I wasn’t scared of the ice, that was the last thing on my mind, we wanted to get all the routines perfect.

‘I wanted to go on the show for years, it’s such a vital time especially now people aren’t getting checked for cancer so to do something for awareness was brilliant.

‘I lost my father and brother to cancer, so just being able to do this was something I’ve always wanted to do.’

The Dancing On Ice champion said his victory on the show had given him a ‘little bit’ of an advantage but added: ‘I was in a sling so I had to dial it down so I couldn’t do what I usually could do because the pins would pop out of my arm.’

Besides his busy TV career, Jake is gearing up to welcome his first child with girlfriend Sophie Church.

He said: ‘Sophie is doing great she’s getting bigger and bigger by the way, I’m away for the minute, I’m in Liverpool doing panto, she’s doing the baby room and is getting sorted and little Freddie (Sophie’s son) is helping as well.’

The couple, who have been dating since June 2018, announced they were expecting a baby earlier this year, following a ‘tough’ miscarriage last year.

The baby will be Jake’s first child, while Sophie is already a mum to Freddie, six, from a previous relationship.

Jake will join celebrities including Linda Lusardi, Shaughna Phillips, actor Jamie Lomas, former Woman’s Hour presenter Dame Jenni Murray, and former rugby player Gareth Thomas on The Real Full Monty on Ice.
