Jersey Shore’s Ronnie Ortiz-Magro and girlfriend put on united front after domestic violence arrest

Ronnie Ortiz-Magro has put a united front on with Saffire Matos just a month after his arrest for ‘domestic violence’ following his girlfriend calling police.

The 35-year-old Jersey Shore star took to Instagram on Monday to share PDA-filled snaps with Matos as he carried her while she straddled him.

This comes just weeks after Ortiz-Magro stepped away from his MTV reality show to deal with mental health issues and he revealed that he would not be facing charges stemming from that domestic violence arrest in April.

The two have seemingly put the incident behind them as they cuddled up in snaps including one featuring a .GIF which read: ‘Wifey for lifey.’

On May 13, Ortiz-Magro had announced that he’s stepping back from Jersey Shore: Family Vacation to address ‘mental health issues’ just hours after it was reported that he wouldn’t face felony charges after his arrest.

The reality star shared a statement to his Instagram Stories in which he said he would be seeking ‘medical treatment’ with the support of the ‘team at MTV.’

Earlier that day, TMZ reported that he wouldn’t face felony charges for a domestic violence arrest in April, though he could be found in violation of his parole.

In his text-only post, Ronnie wrote: ‘After talking to the team at MTV, we have mutually agreed that I will step away from the show while I seek medical treatment for mental health issues that I’ve ignored for too long.’

Ronnie added that his family was a major factor in his decision to seek treatment.

‘My number one goal now is facing my struggles head on. This process will be difficult, but my #1 priority is to get healthy and be the best man and the best father I can for my daughter,’ he concluded.

Although he filmed scenes for the upcoming second half of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation’s fourth season, he didn’t appear to be featured in the recently released trailer, and it’s unclear if his scenes will be cut.

Ortiz-Magro’s statement didn’t clarify if he was seeking treatment again for alcohol abuse, as he previously did in early 2019, or if he’ll also be getting behavioral treatments in the wake of his multiple domestic violence incidents.

In treatment: He claimed he had 'ignored' his issues 'for too long,' though he didn't specify if he would be getting behavior treatments to curb his long-running domestic violence incidents

Ortiz-Magro had previously been booked in October of 2019 for kidnapping the three-year-old daughter he shares with his ex Jen Harley.

Harley reportedly ran out of a Los Angeles Airbnb the couple were staying in after alerting the police to their argument, at which point Ortiz-Magro chased after her while brandishing a knife and carrying their young daughter, according to TMZ.

After he dropped the knife and gave up on chasing Harley, he locked himself inside the Airbnb with their daughter and refused to open up once police arrived. After police broke the door down the reportedly tased him when he refused to come along peacefully.

The violent confrontation allegedly occurred after Ortiz-Magro had been using cocaine.

He got a mix of good and bad news earlier on May 13, when it came to his most recent incident of alleged domestic violence.

The reality star won’t be facing any charges over an alleged incident with his girlfriend, Saffire Matos, in late April, but he will have to head to court over violating his probation.

In the incident the previous month, Saffire contacted authorities and alleged that Ortiz-Magro had gotten physical with her following an argument.

The Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office informed TMZ that the reality star would not be charged with a misdemeanor over the alleged incident.

However, since Ronnie was on probation at the time of his arrest from a previous brush with the law, the City Attorney said he will have to head to court in June.

The outlet previously reported that the District Attorney’s Office declined to charge Ronnie with a felony due to insufficient evidence.

Despite facing no charges over the ordeal with Saffire, Ronnie could still find himself behind bars due to the potential probation violation.

‘We are very happy that after further investigation both the LA County District Attorney’s office and the LA City Attorney’s office determined that criminal charges were not warranted against Ronnie related to the incident that occurred in April,’ Ronnie’s attorney, Scott Leemon told TMZ.

‘We will review the alleged violation of probation claim and deal with it accordingly,’ he added.

Leemon went on to say that Ronnie was in the process of getting treatment for ‘psychological issues that he has ignored for a long time.’

‘His only present goal is to address these issues professionally and make himself and better person and the best father he can be to his loving daughter,’ the lawyer said.

Matos later took to Instagram Stories with a statement clarifying her take on the incident, and seemingly solidarity with Ortiz-Magro.

‘Ronnie and I are fine there is a lot misleading information floating around out there,’ she said. ‘With anybody who reached out with concern I appreciate it with all my heart, but everything that’s being portrayed out there are not facts.

‘I don’t think it’s fair that people are using false accusations to gain attention. Please leave Ron and I alone. You don’t know what someone is going through at the end of the day. Don’t believe everything you hear or read online.’

In his statement, Ortiz-Magro thanked his ‘real friends’ for standing by him amid the troubled times.

‘Thank you for being by myself the last few [weeks],’ he said. ‘I take all experiences as lessons. You learn who really cares about you when [you’re] down and out and [then] you see who doesn’t! But I guess they call it the weeding process. Thank you to my real friends who haven’t left my side and haven’t betrayed me!’

Prior to this incident, Ronnie was on probation stemming from a separate domestic violence case he was involved with October 4, 2019 involving his ex-girlfriend Jen Harley, 32, with whom he shares daughter Ariana Sky, three.

In that case, the MTV personality made a plea deal, entering a guilty plea to seven misdemeanors in the incident, including domestic battery and resisting arrest.
