Joanna Burgess shares photo with Tahlia Giumelli and Tori May – after rumours of feud with Phoebe

Joanna Burgess has reignited reports of a feud with her former sister-in-law Phoebe Burgess after sharing a cosy photo with Tahlia Giumelli and Tori May.

The 27-year-old rugby league WAG uploaded the photo with her sisters-in-law on Instagram on Sunday in what appeared to be a slight to Phoebe.

Phoebe, 32, was married to Joanna’s brother-in-law Sam Burgess before their contentious split in October 2019.

The photo of the three women appeared to have been taken at a Burgess family function over the weekend, with Sam, 32, sharing a group photo with his extended family on Instagram on Sunday.

‘Sundays done right. First time in over two years all together. One great grandmother, one grandmother, eight great/grandkids. Four Broskis and three partners in crime. HOW GOOD,’ the rugby league footballer captioned the post.

Tahlia, 29 – who is engaged to Tom Burgess – reposted Joanna’s photo on her own Instagram and wrote: ‘Snackths! #dropitlikeitshot’.

Tellingly, Burgess matriarch Julie commented on Tahlia’s post and wrote, ‘Best girl crew ever,’ adding three red love heart emojis.

It was reported by Daily Mail Australia in October 2019 that there had long been rumours of a feud between Phoebe and Joanna.

Rumours of a falling out began when Joanna shared an Instagram post in December 2018 about the Burgess family’s annual Christmas lunch.

At the time, it was widely reported the post was a swipe at Phoebe.

In her post, Joanna had declared the family’s get-together, which took place at a restaurant in Watsons Bay, ‘was the best one yet’.

Phoebe wasn’t pictured in the family photo, leading fans to wonder whether Joanna felt it was ‘the best’ because of her sister-in-law’s absence.

But Joanna later clarified in a separate Instagram post: ‘It is not in my nature to take a dig at someone. Phoebe has never joined the Burgess side for previous Christmas festivities. Therefore it couldn’t possibly be aimed at her!’

She continued: ‘My last year’s Christmas upload I used a similar caption as it was our son’s first Christmas. This year we had our daughter join the three of us, hence it being the “best one yet”.’

Despite denying the post was a ‘dig’, Joanna later deleted it.

In January 2019, Daily Mail Australia revealed that Phoebe had unfollowed Joanna and her husband George on Instagram, with Joanna unfollowing Phoebe shortly afterwards.

Meanwhile, Phoebe has been outspoken about her split from Sam, revealing intimate details about their bitter breakup.

In a series of interviews on Mamamia’s No Filter podcast last month, Phoebe spoke candidly about her fraught marriage to the sports star.

She revealed she was ‘f**king furious’ after learning Sam had traces of cocaine in his system while on his way to pick up their children Poppy, four, and Billy, two, earlier this year.

Sam avoided a conviction after pleading guilty to three charges in May following a February 22 police traffic stop where he tested positive for the drug.

Phoebe discussed the incident, saying it ‘broke a lot of trust in someone who is the father of my children’.

‘That’s the first time I have ever been f**king furious. I was really angry. This was something I had absolutely no ability to control…’ she told host Mia Freedman.

‘I was furious. I was furious at the people around him. I didn’t understand how someone could get into that position.’

She described it as one of many ‘turning points’ in their relationship, and admitted the incident ‘broke a lot inside of me’.

‘But he wasn’t handled. He wasn’t looked after. He wasn’t protected in the right way, in the way that may have – not saved our marriage, but it might have led to a true rehabilitation, a true sense of responsibility, owning behaviour, wanting to change that behaviour.’

Phoebe and Sam married in 2015, before splitting in October 2019 amid reports of infidelity and allegations of his wild partying.
