She added: ‘For the family, it’s been a bit of light in the distance and something to look towards and get excited about, and plan for.’

Kimberley explained that the chance to slow her work-life down this year meant she revaluated with was most important to her.

‘I’ve had a few busy years of working and being a mum. I’m of a certain age where it’s a bit now or never. There was no way in my head that I felt like I was done,’ she said, adding that she waited longer in between having her youngest and falling pregnant again because of her busy schedule.

Kimberley said she knew she was pregnant the minute her period was late, and the couple waited to break the news to their boys until she was further along, setting up a Christmas treasure hunt which culminated with a note left under the tree which read: ‘Mummy has a baby in her tummy.’

The proud mum revealed her boys are keen for a baby brother, and unlike her previous pregnancies she is keen to find out the gender at her 20-week scan early next year.

Justin wasn’t able to be with Kimberley for her 12-week scan after a coronavirus outbreak at their sons’ school forced him to stay home.

‘We have to accept there’s going to be a few things like that thrown at us along the way. If you have a baby in these times, it’s not going to be straightforward,’ she pointed out.

As well as breaking the news to Cole and Bobby, Kimberley has also told close friends and family, revealing her former bandmates Cheryl and Nicola Roberts are ‘really excited.’

‘I think they both knew I wanted another and it was on the cards, and just like everybody they said it’s lovely news and something to look forward to next year. Cheryl sends me names quite a lot, randomly,’ she said.

Kimberley added that she planned to call Nadine Coyle and Sarah Harding to tell them the news after their plans to all get together before Christmas were dashed with the new restrictions.

She added that she and the girls have become closer since Sarah revealed her cancer diagnosis earlier this year, and have been keeping in regular contact.
