Kimberly Hart-Simpson has revealed she has turned to Instagram to find love after her split from Shane Finlayson.
The Coronation Street star, 34, split from her Celebs Go Dating co-star after a six-month whirlwind romance, and has now said she’s open to sliding into people’s direct messages ‘if you see someone you like and want to know if they’re available’.
She added: ‘Instagram is an amazing way of meeting people and it has become a bit like a dating app.’

Speaking to The Mirror about her quest for romance, the actress – who plays sex worker Nicky Wheatley on the ITV soap – explained: ‘I know quite a few people that have met on Instagram. I think it’s common now. I’d approach a guy or girl – anyone. If I genuinely like someone, I will put myself out there.’
She also revealed she was on celebrity dating app Raya as well as Tinder and an unnamed dating site before switching to the photo sharing app.
Kimberly also joked that she is not afraid of rejection, quipping: ‘I’m used to getting rejected all the time from being an actor.’
Kimberly took to her Instagram stories earlier in May to announce she had split from Shane in a statement, saying their busy work schedules led to the decision.

Kimberly, who played escort Nicky Wheatley on the soap, met Shane on E4’s dating show, and went Instagram official with him in February.
Her statement read: ‘After 6 months of dating Shane and I have decided to part ways. We are proud of our journey and respect each other immensely. The show has been the best experience.
‘Our journey after that even better but with the distance between us, work commitments and restrictions can naturally take its toll.’

Kimberly went on to thank fans for their support since the pair’s appearance on the dating show, and concluded: ‘Thank you for the love you have given us, it has not been wasted. XX’
During the final episode of the series, Kimberly and Shane had previously declared their love for each other.

Sharing a heartfelt post on social media, she wrote: ‘As the show comes to an end, I want to say this. It has been the most humbling and eye opening journey for me.
‘I have asked all my life for jobs where I get to pretend to be other people. And for once someone took me on to play myself.
‘I won’t lie, there were days I didn’t think I was ‘entertaining enough’, sleeping in a room full of people who are so established in an industry and honestly… I feel like a fraud. After all I found my TV career in a pandemic.

Speaking The Mirror, she said: ‘I have dated people who are male, female, transgender… gender is completely irrelevant to me.
‘We’re all on different spectrums. There are many qualities about me I would deem just as much male as female.
‘It’s about the person, not what sex they were born. I just fancy everybody.’
