‘Dalton comes from a very traditional family, and so it was definitely a hard conversation because it was such a shock,’ Laura explained.

Shocked: Fitness star Laura Henshaw told Mamamia this week that her husband’s family was ‘shocked’ when he took her surname and admitted some people even questioned his masculinity

‘But after chatting through the reasoning, his family understood his decision.’

Laura added that there has been ‘negative and positive’ talk about masculinity on social media after Dalton, né Graham, became Mr Henshaw.

‘There has been some commentary on Instagram about masculinity, both negative and positive which I have found really interesting,’ she said.

‘Someone’s decision to take on their partner’s surname does not make them more or less masculine or more or less feminine.’
