Liam Payne sent temperatures soaring on Saturday when he shared a shirtless photo of himself working up a sweat in his home gym.

Introducing his 23.1 million Instagram followers to his adorable new French bulldog puppy, the hit-maker, 27, joked in his caption: ‘When your puppy decides to jump into your progress pic.’

Wearing nothing but a pair of black shorts, white trainers and socks, the former One Direction star titled his head to the side while posing in a mirror, with plenty of expensive equipment visible around him.

On the floor in front of Liam was a tiny white and beige puppy, with the sweet pooch looking up at Liam, who is still rocking peroxide blonde hair.

The doting father later took to Instagram to reveal he had indulged in a plate of iced cinnamon buns after his workout, writing: ‘After workout snack not advisable.’

He then posted another photo of his heart-melting new pet.

Earlier in July it was revealed that Liam – who shares four-year-old son Bear with his ex Cheryl – has become the latest star to invest in a depression treatment made from psychedelic drugs, such as magic mushroom components.

Liam has joined a number of other prominent figures in investing in Atai Life Sciences, including American DJ Diplo, real name Thomas Pentz, 42, and new Dragons’ Den star Steve Bartlett, 28.

The father-of-one has become the latest celebrity to invest in the new biopharmaceutical company.

Atai Life Sciences is undertaking clinical trials to look at treating mental health disorders by using psychedelic drugs, such as magic mushroom components.

Just days after the company went public at the end of June, Liam tweeted: ‘I am a supporter and investor in Atai.

‘Proud to be learning more everyday about the advancements that are happening globally.’

Liam has spoken openly in the past about his own struggles with mental health, revealing he battled suicidal thoughts after finding fame, aged 16, alongside Harry Styles in X Factor boyband One Direction.

‘For some certain circumstances I’m quite lucky to be here still,’ he told Sky One’s Straight Talking with Ant Middleton.

‘There are times when that level of loneliness and people getting into you every day, it’s like, ”When will this end?” That’s almost nearly killed me a couple of times.’

He welcomed son Bear with former Girls Aloud singer Cheryl in March 2017, a milestone that he claims also ‘messed’ him up, adding: ‘Becoming a dad at such a young age, it’s such a difficult thing.

‘And I think I built fatherhood up so much in my head that it kind of messed me up to start with. I started in a bad place with it.’
