The former Full House star left When Calls The Heart in May 2019 after she was charged, along with her fashion designer husband Mossimo Giannulli, 58, in the Varsity Blues college admissions scandal.

After initially claiming to be innocent, Lori eventually pled guilty to conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud and served two months in prison from October to December 2020.

Mossimo also entered a guilty plea and was convicted on conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud and honest services wire and mail fraud. He was sentenced to a five-month prison sentence which he completed in April 2020.

Loughlin, who remains on probation, indicated that she was returning to acting last week when she requested ‘expedited’ permission to travel to Canada from a federal judge in Boston.

As reported by The Mercury News, a statement from Lori’s probation states that ‘Ms. Loughlin anticipates she will be traveling for about one week” and ‘being offered a filming production project.’

When Calls The Heart has aired on The Hallmark Channel since 2014. The Western period piece follows high-society teacher Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow) as she adjusts to life in a Canadian coal mining town.

Lori played the role of Abigail, a widow and close friend of Elizabeth, from season one through six, before leaving the show after she was charged in connection with the admissions scandal.

Loughlin’s character was written out of the show. In a two-part special that aired in May 2019, Elizabeth revealed in a letter that Abigail had rushed back east to take care of her ailing mother.

‘It’s been a week since Abigail got word that her mother had taken ill back east. True to her nature, Abigail wasted no time in rushing off to care for her,’ Elizabeth said. ‘Abigail is much more than a friend, she’s family. I will miss her and Cody deeply — we all will, but we must get by as best we can.

‘In her absence, we must soldier on and we will. We are a community, we are strong, we are Hope Valley.’

Spinoff series When Hope Calls premiered in August 2019 on The Hallmark Channel. The show centers on two sisters Lillian Walsh (Morgan Kohan) and Grace Bennett (Jocelyn Hudon) who open an orphanage in the western Canadian town of Brookfield.

The Operation Varsity Blues scheme involved wealthy parents who paid large sums of money to bribe their children’s ways into prestigious universities.

During the investigation, it emerged that Lori and Giannulli had paid $500,000 to falsely pass their daughters Isabella, now 23, and Olivia, now 22, off as potential college rowers on University of Southern California’s rowing team in order to secure their admission.

Olivia has already made her return to the public eye as she is competing on the current season of Dancing With The Stars.
