EXCLUSIVE: Love Island star Erin Barnett, 26, reveals engagement plans with partner Mick Russell, 45 – and promises it will be a ‘ridiculously huge’ wedding
She may not have found Mr Right on Love Island Australia, but Erin Barnett has certainly landed on her feet with her post-show boyfriend Mick Russell.
On Friday, the 26-year-old told Daily Mail Australia she’s already planned how she wants the father of three, 45, to propose to her – and hopes he’ll pop the question ‘in the next two years’.
Erin, who will soon celebrate her four-year anniversary with Mick, said: ‘My plan was to be proposed to near the Eiffel Tower in Paris – so if he can bring that here, that would be good!’
Wedding bells? On Friday, Love Island Australia star Erin Barnett told Daily Mail Australia that she’s already planned how she wants her partner Mick Russell to propose, and is preparing for it to happen ‘in the next two years’
She added that she shares photos of rings with her partner to ‘drop hints’, and sometimes even sends him a selection of four to test him on which one she’d prefer.
And when it comes to the big day itself, there will be no expense spared.
‘It will be huge. Ridiculously huge,’ she said of the couple’s wedding. ‘I’d have it here [in Australia] so more family can come.
‘But I would be a princess for a day, with the whole horse and carriage… I’d have to live out that fantasy.’
Put a ring on it: Erin added that she keeps sending her partner photos of rings to ‘drop hints’, and joked that she sometimes sends him a selection of four as a ‘pop quiz’ of which one she’d prefer
Erin – who had a failed romance with Eden Dally on Love Island before meeting Mick – also gushed about being a stepmother to his Mick’s three children.
‘I see it more like being an aunty. They come to me when they don’t want to tell their parents things, and we figure out how we’re going to get away with it,’ she laughed.
‘His oldest son is 16, and two girls are 14 and 11. It’s so easy, as the mum and dad are both there so I’m just here for extra support.’
In 2019, Erin – who has struggled with endometriosis for years – revealed she can’t have children naturally.
‘There will probably always be a small part of me that feels a little sad that [childbirth] is an experience I’ll never get to have,’ Erin said on Instagram at the time.
‘I still consider myself very lucky. I met [boyfriend Mick Russell] a single dad, so I’m stepmother to three wonderful children.’
‘Ridiculously huge!’ Erin added that on her wedding day she wants to feel like a ‘princess’
Erin is fronting a movement with vagina healthcare brand Kolorex to ‘end vaginal shame’, telling Daily Mail Australia she wants everyone to stop thinking of genital hygiene as a ‘taboo’ subject and instead be confident discussing their bodies.
‘There’s nothing to be ashamed of talking about that. It’s been such a taboo subject for so long – it’s the generation gap I think,’ she said.
‘Change starts off with talking, and then it’s only going to get bigger.’
