Paulson teased her character to The Wrap last month: ‘I don’t know yet what it’s like to play the gal I’m playing over on Horror Story this year, but I can tell you that I’m looking forward to it.

‘I think the character may not be something you haven’t seen — I don’t mean I’m playing a character I’ve played before, I am not — but she’s got a little bit of a few people rolled in there.’

She’s portrayed several different roles over the years, appearing in the first eight seasons as a variety of characters.

The Ratched star added: ‘But the most exciting thing for me is I get to have a hair color I’ve never had on the show, nor have I ever had it in life, and it’s something I’ve always dreamt of doing, [but] never done. So I get to live out that fantasy, so that’s exciting for me.’

Murphy revealed last May that Culkin has a ‘very, very great insane part’ that includes a ‘crazy erotic sex’ scene with Bates.

He told E! News: ‘I said, “OK, here’s the pitch.” And I told them the character and I told him he has crazy, erotic sex with Kathy Bates and does other things. And he paused and he goes, “This sounds like the role I was born to play.” So, he signed up right then and there.’

Season 10 of American Horror Story was supposed to premiere last fall, but production was delayed amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Murphy and production partner Brad Falchuk created the series in 2011, featuring a new horror story each season, with recurring cast members in different roles each time.
