Melissa McCarthy has used her star power to convey a poignant message about face masks to Byron Bay’s local residents. 

Following news of New South Wales‘ new COVID-19 cluster on Friday, the 50-year-old actress was seen shopping in Byron Bay wearing a face mask emblazoned with the words: ‘People are worth saving.’  

The actress, who has been living in the trendy coastal town while filming her new Hulu series Nine Perfect Strangers, looked like a woman on a mission as she visited a convenience store with her daughter Georgette, 10.

Melissa shielded her eyes behind a pair of large spectacles as she strolled towards the store hand-in-hand with her lookalike daughter. 

Once inside, the Bridesmaids star picked up some household items before carrying them back to her car in a recycled cardboard box.

Melissa looked effortlessly trendy in a pink denim boiler-suit and brown sandals.

Slicking her brunette locks into a low ponytail, the glamazon completed her look with stud earrings, bangles and a stack of diamond rings. 

Elsewhere during the shopping expedition, Melissa was seen carrying a canvas tote bag printed with the logo of Byron Bay eatery Three Blue Ducks. 

The sighting comes amid rumours Melissa has enjoyed her stay in Australia so much that she now wants to film her next project, Netflix comedy series God’s Favorite Idiot, Down Under.

‘They [Melissa and other Hollywood stars] just love it in Australia and absolutely want to make the series here,’ an insider told The Daily Telegraph earlier this month. 

‘With everything going on in the U.S. right now, the pandemic is out of control, they want to stay here.’      

The funnywoman, who recently wrapped filming Nine Perfect Strangers, will reportedly star in God’s Favorite Idiot opposite her comedian husband Ben Falcone.
