Michelle Williams transformed into Steven Spielberg’s mother Leah as she was seen for the first time on set filming the director’s semi-autobiographical move The Fabelmans on Monday.

The actress, 40, joined Paul Dano, playing Spielberg’s father Arnold and Seth Rogen, who is tapped to play the director’s favourite uncle, on the set of the movie – which is loosely based on his childhood in the fifties and sixties, in LA.

Michelle donned fifties attire including a blue pinafore dress with bow detail and sported a blonde bob as she chatted with crew members ahead of filming.

Keeping in line with COVID-19 regulations, she wore a perspex visor between takes.

Paul, 37,  wore a brown corduroy suit with a matching tie and white shirt, sporting a combed over hairstyle as he made his set debut.

Seth, 39, wore a black face mask as he arrived on set clad in a grey suit and checked shirt.   

World renowned director Steven was glimpsed for the first time on the set on Thursday, July 22.

The 74-year-old Hollywood heavyweight shot a few scenes for the upcoming film on the beach in Malibu, California with cast members Gabriel LaBelle (who plays Steven), Sam Rechner (Ruby’s Choice), and Chloe East (Genera+ion) among others.         

Steven also has three sisters Nancy, Anne, and Sue but casting for those parts have yet to be revealed. 

The E.T. director had a very colorful childhood. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio but was raised between Haddon Township, New Jersey and Scottsdale, Arizona.   

He spent three years attending Arcadia High School before moving to California with his dad after his parents divorced and he graduated from Saratoga High School.

Pursuing his dreams of a career in movies, he applied to the USC film school twice but was never accepted. He attended Cal State University, Long Beach and began his career as an unpaid intern at Universal Studios. 

The six-time Golden Globe winner was eventually awarded an honorary degree from USC in 1994, and 35 years after he began his college career he graduated with a B.A. in Film Production and Electronic Arts with an option in Film/Video Production in 2002.  

In total he has won four oscars: Best Director and Best Picture for Schindler’s List (1994),  Best Director for Saving Private Ryan (1999) and and the Irving G. Thalberg honorary award (1987). He has been nominated a total of 17 times.
