Nadia Fairfax takes the skirt off her wedding dress for reception

She is considered one of the most stylish women in Australia.

And socialite and fashion blogger Nadia Fairfax pulled out all of the stops for her wedding to financier Michael Wayne at Swifts, a heritage-listed late-Victorian Gothic Revival mansion in Sydney’s Darling Point, on Thursday.

Nadia, 31, stunned in a strapless white gown with a full skirt and fitted ruched bodice, before removing the skirt and transforming the gown into a mini dress for her reception.

And the bride wore a mini! Socialite Nadia Fairfax whipped the skirt off her wedding dress to party at her reception following her wedding to financier Michael Wayne in Sydney on Thursday 

The frock almost had a eighties vibe thanks to its puffball hem, however Nadia styled her hair in a Sixties-style beehive for the day.  

The petite blonde was in her element when her wedding MC announced the happy couple at the reception, with the fashionista throwing up her hands in delight.

Nadia is the daughter of former rugby union and rugby league player, Russell Fairfax, 68, and gymnastics coach mother Sharon.

High-profile guests at the event included former rugby league footballer Luke Ricketson and his wife Kate Waterhouse.

Joining the couple was Kate’s mother and famed horse trainer Gai Waterhouse.

Kate looked stunning in a figure-hugging long pink dress.

The couture gown featured ruching along the length of it, along with a split at the back and off-the-shoulder puff sleeves.

The 37-year-old racing heiress accessorised with nude stilettos and elaborate jewelled drop earrings, and her shoulder-length hair was styled in a tight bun.

Guests had their temperatures checked as they arrived for the ceremony amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Nadia announced her engagement to Michael in March last year, and they were married almost a year to the day later.

‘A little ray of light in all of the murkiness,’ she wrote on Instagram at the time, referencing the coronavirus pandemic.

‘Almost two weeks ago, Michael asked me to marry him under the most amazing autumn blaze maple tree, in the Southern Highlands.

‘We’ve enjoyed keeping it to ourselves and living in a bit of a “love bubble” but we thought our friends and family might love some good news!’

The Sydney Morning Herald first revealed Nadia and Michael were dating in February 2019.

A friend of the fashion blogger was quoted as saying: ‘He’s her biggest champion and isn’t threatened by her success.’

‘He admires her work ethic and the fact she’s a social butterfly, whilst he’s happy to sit back in the shadows away from the social scene,’ the source added.

The publication said the pair first met at Montarna McDonald’s December 2018 wedding to Nick Pitt.

Nadia is considered one of Sydney’s fashion ‘It’ girls, and has been pictured with Anna Wintour and the late Karl Lagerfeld.

Meanwhile, Michael is the Managing Director of Medallion Financial, and a regular contributor on Sky Business.

In December 2018, Nadia announced that she had split from New York-based sports media executive Nick Adams.

She told The Sydney Morning Herald at the time that they had called it quits three months earlier in September.

Nick is a New York-based sports media executive, and a descendent of Sydney’s Playfair establishment family.

He also happens to be the cousin of fashion designer Claire Tregoning, who co-founded sportswear label P.E Nation with Pip Edwards.

The couple dated for five years, during which time he introduced her to the Sydney society set.

She previously told Husskie in 2017 that it can be difficult having a long-distance relationship.
