The Aladdin star said: ‘We’ve all been there when you feel uncomfortable or you’re not sure about something and if you speak up you’re kind of made to feel like, ‘oh you’re being a bit difficult’ and I would just say it’s never going to be as bad as you think.

Vogue Visionaries is an exciting new series that will educate and inspire anyone who wants to make waves in the worlds of fashion, art, beauty and business.

During the chat, Naomi also gave her advice on how to to deal with rejection in the tough industry.

She said: ‘Being an actor, part of that is dealing with rejection. It’s tough but I think over the years I’ve really understood more and more that it really isn’t personal.

‘I’ve understood that the most when I’ve seen behind the scenes, whether we are talking about casting things now in terms of producing things and understanding that it’s never a case of ‘oh this person’s talented and this person’s not’.’

She added that there’s so many other factors that go into making either a movie, TV show or piece of content that has nothing to do with one individual person.

She continued: ‘It’s just about how you fit within the rest of the moving pieces.’

Naomi also spoke about auditioning for the role of Princess Jasmine and knowing what she wanted for the character, who she played in the 2019 film.

She explained: ‘Auditioning for the role of Princess Jasmine in Aladdin, obviously I knew there were thousands and thousands of other people auditioning, but quite honestly I didn’t focus on that…

‘I had a very clear vision of the version of Princess Jasmine that I would like to see and rolled with that. I was also at a place where I was very comfortable with going, ‘ok – this is my version, if that’s not what they’re after, then that’s ok.’

In the interview she also shared how she managed to perfect her American accent by watching films like the Parent Trap.
