Natalie Barr and Kyle Sandilands bury the hatchet live on Sunrise

Natalie Barr and Kyle Sandilands bury the hatchet live on air after the radio presenter said she ‘didn’t deserve’ to replace Sam Armytage on Sunrise

Kyle Sandilands has made peace with Natalie Barr, almost four months after saying she wasn’t qualified to host Channel Seven’s Sunrise.

The KIIS FM radio presenter, 50, appeared on Channel Seven’s breakfast show on Wednesday to discuss his historic ratings victory over 2GB’s Ben Fordham.

He was warm and friendly towards Natalie, 53, and even complimented her on her recent photo shoot for The Australian Women’s Weekly.

Kyle, who was speaking from his holiday home in Queensland, even showed off his copy of the magazine, which featured Natalie and her two sons on the cover.

‘They are some good-looking boys,’ he said. ‘Just by looking at the photos, I can tell what a great mum you are.’

‘Those kids, they look at you with adoring eyes. I admire that,’ he added.

‘Thank you,’ Natalie responded graciously. ‘It was very special. We had never done anything like that.’

Natalie and her Sunrise co-anchor David ‘Kochie’ Koch then congratulated Kyle and his co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson again before wrapping up the interview.

‘Thank you, thanks very much, I appreciate that,’ Kyle said, adding that it ‘means a lot’ coming from Australia’s most-watched breakfast TV show.

The interview comes after Kyle said in March that Natalie didn’t deserve to replace Sam Armytage as host of Sunrise.

He suggested she only got Sam’s job because she’d waited in the wings for so long.

‘Natalie’s a great newsreader – not taking anything away from her success – but I think you can’t just hang around,’ he said on The Kyle and Jackie O Show.

‘It’s like me leaving and Intern Pete [Deppeler, KIIS FM producer and occasional on-air personality] being given my job, just because he’s here,’ he added.
