Nicola teamed her long winter coat with black skinny jeans and boots, while shielding her eyes with a pair of dark sunglasses.

Both ladies cut a quiet and reflective figure as they made a low-key exit from the flat, where they no doubt isolated together so they could take to the dancefloor once more.

The pair both climbed into a red car before heading off.

Earlier in the day, Katya shared a sweet snap of the pair ahead of their dance, as she congratulated winner Bill and everyone involved in Strictly for a great series.

Katya and Nicola, who made history by becoming the first-ever same sex couple to participate on the show, were left devastated when they left the series following Week 3 after the ballroom expert contracted coronavirus

And ensuring they came back with a bang, the sportswoman and the choreographer delivered a sizzling routine to Michael Bublé’s rendition of Feeling Good, before Bill Bailey was announced as this year’s winner.

Olympian Nicola nailed androgynous chic in a navy sheer shirt and black trousers, while Russian beauty Katya amped up the glamour in an asymmetric dress.

The dynamic duo captivated the audience as they performed twists and turns on the dancefloor, with many fans claiming they would have reached the final if they weren’t removed from the programme prematurely.

Viewers wrote on Twitter: ‘Oh yes, how much I’ve missed these two history makers Katya and Nicola. Having seen their dance, I’m now feeling good as well. What #Strictly legends these two are. Great dance for the #StrictlyFinal.’

‘I’m so glad these two were able to come back and deliver this! I was so excited to see how Katya would choreograph an in-hold ballroom routine and she did NOT disappoint. Loved it!’ shared another.

‘Tell you what, on that performance alone they’d have been in the final. Awesome, spinetingling stuff!’ remarked a third fan.

With a fourth adding: ‘Nicola and Katya are amazing together – such a huge shame that they had to leave the competition when they did. The dance they did tonight was really something.’

MailOnline previously revealed the pair had to self-isolate for 14 days after Katya’s diagnosis.

Teasing their return on Strictly spin-off show, It Takes Two, via video from her home, Nicola revealed: ‘Well, you know, as my saying goes: ‘I do like doing the most’. Me and Katya will be coming back!’

Host Zoe Ball quickly clarified they would be dancing for one last time, rather than taking part in the competition again.
