Nicole Kidman’s sister Antonia breaks silence on divorce from late husband Angus Hawley

Nicole Kidman‘s sister Antonia has opened up about her split from late husband, Angus Hawley.

The 50-year-old journalist and lawyer appeared on Studio 10 this week and made rare comments about her divorce from Hawley, saying she tried to put their children first and relied on her famous family for ‘support’ during the trying time.

Antonia and Hawley were married for 11 years but split in 2007. In April 2015, Angus died in New York from a suspected heart attack at the age of 46.

Revealing all: This week, Nicole Kidman’s sister Antonia broke her silence on her divorce from late husband Angus Hawley in a rare interview on Studio 10 and revealed how she relied on her famous family for ‘support’ throughout the separation. Pictured with Angus in Sydney in 2004

‘What do you think about, I think it’s about 50 per cent of marriages end in divorce, and a lot of those marriages involve children,’ host Sarah Harris began.

‘You always wonder what kind of effect that has on the children. What’s been your experience in terms of the wellbeing of the kids whose parents are going through this kind of thing?’ she asked Antonia, who is now practicing family law.

‘Well I guess, again, it comes down to the mental health of a parent, especially if you’ve got dependents, you’ve got to take care of yourself, or that was my experience,’ Antonia said.

‘I had a lot of family support too, so that assisted.’

She went on to say that the children should always be a priority in a split.

‘But then again, it’s a matter of trying to help people try and navigate a really difficult time and keeping those little people at the forefront of the process and their interests as a priority,’ Antonia said.

Antonia and Angus had four children together, Lucia, 22, Hamish, 19, James, 17, and Sybella, 13.

Angus, who was the great-grandson of Grace Bros founder Albert Grace, was married to Prue Fisher for three years before he died in 2015.

Antonia married Singaporean-based businessman Craig Marran in April 2010 and went on to have two children with him, sons Nicholas, nine, and Alexander, seven.
