The outlet added that three new featured players would join the cast, however, Beck Bennett and Lauren Holt will depart the show.

Bennett has been a member of the cast since 2013 and has famously portrayed former Vice President Mike Pence on the series. Holt was a relative newcomer who only lasted one season as a featured player.

‘Love you, SNL. Gonna miss you so much,’ Beck Bennett wrote on social media. ‘Thank you for 8 years of remarkable people and incredible experiences that completely changed my life. I had so much fun.’

Following the conclusion of last season, questions arose about what would happen with the biggest names on SNL – Pete Davidson and Kate McKinnon among them.

The series suffered its worst ratings and, according to Deadline, it’s forced creator Lorne Michaels to ‘become more flexible in recent years allowing some of these bigger names to combine Saturday Night Live with other projects.’

Aidy Bryant and Kate McKinnon in particular each have thriving film and television careers continuing to rise with Bryant’s Emmy nominated Shrill and McKinnon set to star in the scripted series Joe Exotic.

The 2021-22 cast alphabetically, Deadline reported is: Aidy Bryant, Michael Che, Pete Davidson, Mikey Day, Chloe Fineman, Heidi Gardner, Colin Jost, Kate McKinnon, Alex Moffat, Kyle Mooney, Ego Nwodim, Chris Redd, Cecily Strong, Kenan Thompson, Melissa Villaseñor and Bowen Yang, featuring Aristotle Athari, Andrew Dismukes, James Austin Johnson, Punkie Johnson and Sarah Sherman.

Aristotle Athari is the third new cast member

Rounding out: New recruits James Austin Johnson and Aristotle Athari are also on board

She’ll be the first Kardashian to host, although estranged husband Kanye West last controversially appeared on the show in 2018, going on a long rant about Donald Trump following the broadcast. It was his seventh time as musical guest.

SNL is probably hoping Kardashian will be a big draw for ratings, which slumped to their lowest point in a decade last March, according to Showbiz 411.

Kardashian isn’t the only first-time host slated for fall. After Kim, newbie Rami Malek will host October 16 with Grammy winner Young Thug taking care of the songs.

And comic veteran Jason Sudeikis will have a homecoming of sorts when he hosts on October 23rd. The Ted Lasso star wrote for/starred on the sketch show from 2003 to 2013.
