Phoebe Burgess is every inch the doting mother as she enjoys a picnic with her kids

Former WAG Phoebe Burgess recently underwent surgery on her back in order to treat her chronic pain.

But on Monday, the 31-year-old put her own dramas aside as she spent quality time with children Poppy, three, and Billy, two.

Phoebe was every inch the doting mother as she enjoyed a picnic with the youngsters at a dam near her parents home in Bowral.

The Specsavers style ambassador looked relaxed as she sat with her children on a red chequered blanket.

Little Poppy seemed to be enjoying herself as she sat on her mother’s lap as Billy played with toys. The young family munched on a plate of snacks.

Phoebe looked stylish for the occasion wearing a blue, button-down frock which offered a generous glimpse of her pins.

She finished the outfit with a chain along with a pair of stylish, designer sunglasses. Phoebe wore her blonde tresses in a ponytail.

Earlier this month, Phoebe told Instagram fans that she was ‘sneaking in some major rest and recovery’ at her family’s Bowral estate, following day surgery.

The former NRL WAG posted a photo of herself in a hospital gown to her Stories, prior to a procedure to help gain relief from her muscle spasms.

The lifestyle entrepreneur wore a hospital gown and cap, and appeared in a positive frame of mind, smiling for the camera.

In October, Phoebe admitted in an Instagram post that it’s taken her ‘years’ to accept her diagnosis, and felt a responsibility to offer advice to other women, after being inundated with messages on Instagram.

‘I don’t know if it’s social responsibility, female responsibility. The responsibility of being [a] “mum”,’ she explained.

Phoebe revealed that her first surgery was in 2012 after a skiing accident ‘that changed her spine forever’.

Post-surgery, she ‘didn’t listen’ to her body or follow doctors’ advice; instead continuing to play tennis, ski, and run ‘every morning on concrete’.

Having been unable to accept her reality, Phoebe spent ‘weeks in hospital, unable to move’.

‘Two children and countless procedures, injections, scans and surgeries later, I live in chronic pain. It’s taken me years to acknowledge and accept my diagnosis,’ she admitted.

Phoebe went on to say that she has found the right support for her: a small team of professional helpers.

‘The people who I book appointments with, call, Zoom, email, have become my (professional) support mechanism,’ she concluded.

‘The safety net away from my family who gather around me when a life problem requires more than just me to take it on.’

Phoebe is the ex-wife of former NRL South Sydney Rabbitohs player Sam Burgess, 31.

The former couple finalised their divorce in April this year. They share two children, daughter Poppy, three, and son Billy, two.
