Real Housewives Of Orange County: Braunwyn Windham-Burke admits to having two nannies to get drunk

Braunwyn Windham-Burke employed two nannies so she could get drunk away from her kids, a castmate said Wednesday on The Real Housewives Of Orange County.

In a flashback, Braunwyn, 42, admitted the scheme to Emily Simpson, 44, saying, ‘I could completely check out and there wasn’t consequences. I had outs.’

The mother of seven also had admitted that she hid bottles of tequila in the closet so that her husband Sean Burke wouldn’t know she drank.

Braunwyn was celebrating 30 days of sobriety after years of heavy drinking, but every day was a struggle, and her castmates’ reactions varied.

‘Let’s call it what it really is,’ Emily carped to Gina Kirschenheiter, 36, as they went shopping. ‘They’re not nannies. They’re your alcohol support team.’

Gina had been warring with Braunwyn but experienced a change of heart after Braunwyn texted her apologizing for her actions, and asked her to go to an AA meeting.

Gina realized Braunwyn was facing a whole new way of dealing with life, and she had empathy for her, as her own father had struggled with alcoholism.

But she wasn’t quite so giving when the episode began.

She and Braunwyn had been attending Shannon Beador’s house party, and got into it over a flirty text message Sean had purportedly sent Gina.

Infuriated by Gina’s claim, Braunwyn threw her drinking glass into Shannon’s pool.

She then declared her new sobriety in spectacular fashion, yelling out ‘I’m 30 days sober, b****!’

Braunwyn stomped away, and Sean tried to make things right, which just annoyed Gina further.

Sean tracked Braunwyn down outside the party, urging her to return and have a civil conversation with Gina, but she refused.

‘They lie to each all the time,’ Braunwyn cried. ‘I’m finally telling the truth—to me, to you, to everyone. Why would I go back there, into that den of horrible, f***ed-up women?’

Sean got her to calm down, and Braunwyn returned to Shannon’s, but she and Gina just ended up squabbling again.

‘I’m really proud of you that you’re sober, but this is a pointless conversation,’ Gina said, ending it.

She walked inside, where she, Emily and Shannon, 56, then began doing tequila shots.

Braunwyn looked shattered to see it, telling Kelly Dodd, 45, ‘I want a drink so f***ing bad, it hurts.’

She confessed that she’d been hiding tequila bottles in her closet for months, trying to keep Sean from seeing them.

‘I think he wanted to not know,’ she sighed, as Kelly asked, ‘So you’re saying he’s an enabler?’

‘Probably,’ Braunwyn replied, deciding to grab Sean and leave the party.

Shannon was upset, saying to the cameras, ‘This is supposed to be an amazing day, and all Braunwyn Burke is doing is raining down on it. Get the f*** out!’

Braunwyn walked to her house a block away, and told her daughter Rowan, 17, what happened, her face red and raw with emotion.

She walked off her agitation on an in-house treadmill, and admitted that she was ‘mortified’ by what she’d just done, adding, ‘When am I gonna start to feel not so f***ing crazy all the time?’

‘Time,’ Sean reassured her. ‘That’s what you have on your side, is time.’

‘And my treadmill,’ Braunwyn said, laughing. ‘I’ve literally been running away from my problems.’

Sean drove her to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, and on the way Braunwyn said quietly, ‘I’ve been not drinking for many, many years. But I don’t know if I’ve ever been sober.’

Everyone at Shannon’s continued to drink while touring her luxurious home, laughing as they piled into her tub and caught sight of Shannon’s large hanging of herself in her gym.

Kelly made Shannon cringe as she asked her elderly father Robert, 90, if he could still ‘get it up.’

‘Is he banging you like a screen door in a hurricane?’ she queried the man’s girlfriend, Dianne.

‘The lights are on,’ Robert said, laughing.

Shannon asked her boyfriend John’s daughter to fish the glass out of the pool.

Emily, who’d always been at odds with Shannon, was thrilled to see the party bring them closer together. The next day, Shannon invited her and Gina to lunch.

‘There are pigs flying and hell has definitely frozen over, because Shannon included me on a group text,’ Emily said. ‘Holy crap! She knows my name and my phone number!’

When she picked up Gina that day, Emily revealed Braunwyn’s secret about the nannies.

It made Gina soften a bit toward the woman, as she understood her battle better, and she resolved to attend an AA meeting with Braunwyn.

Braunwyn then tried to make amends with Shannon, who was still bitter about her party.

She wanted to invite Shannonn to her wedding vow renewal with Sean, something the couple did every 10 years.

Shannon was upset—not only because of the glass thrown in the pool, but because Braunwyn had referred to John’s son as ‘lemonade boy’ at the party, which he worked as a waiter.

Most of all, Shannon was furious that Braunwyn had told Gina she’d said her house was ‘small,’ something Shannon insisted she never said.

They hit an impasse but resolved to move on for the sake of their families.

Over at her house, Kelly shared snacks with her fiancé Rick Leventhal, 60, the New York City-based Fox correspondent who was trying to get transferred to Los Angeles.

‘I’m running out of patience, because it’s an addiction, what we have for each other,’ Kelly said privately. ‘It’s off the charts, the way we bang, okay?’

She admired her man for the way he got chores done around the house, watching delightedly as he installed closet shelves.

She and Elizabeth Vargas also met up for retail therapy and talked about Braunwyn.

Elizabeth felt compassion for her, as she had grown up surrounded by people with substance abuse issues.

One evening, Kelly welcomed Emily to her place, where they had drinks as Kelly promised she didn’t have ‘Corona del Mar virus,’ wondering what the big deal about COVID-19 was, anyway.

Of Braunwyn, Kelly said, ‘I think she’s better drunk,’ to which Emily replied, ‘I said that today!’

Just then, Braunwyn called Kelly’s cell phone.

‘Hey, we were just talking about you,’ Kelly blared into the receiver. ‘We were talking about how freaky-deaky you are off the sauce.’

Braunwyn said she was just down the street with Sean, and they stopped by with a mezuzah for Kelly, who called it ‘manuza’ instead.

The good-luck gift was meant to celebrate her upcoming nuptials to Rick, who was Jewish.

Braunwyn was frank about what happened at Shannon’s party, and open about the fact that she’d only told Gina what Shannon said to hurt her.

Meanwhile, at her house, Shannon was still upset about Braunwyn’s call.

‘My integrity means everything to me,’ she told John, upset to have been accused of saying something nasty.

‘This s*** weighs on me,’ Shannon swore. ‘I don’t move on from people saying I’m a liar.’

The Real Housewives Of Orange County will return next week on Bravo.
