Not again! Rod Stewart details his turbulent friendship with Elton John as he claims that the pair have fallen out once more… after patching things up earlier this year
Rod said that the pair – who were friends for over 50 years – are no longer in contact following their 2018 fall out.
Speaking to host, Nihal Arthanayake, Rod jokingly asked ‘who?!’ when asked about his friend, before he laughed and exclaimed ‘my old mucker!’
He said: ‘He is my old mate. We don’t speak to each other much any more. I miss him.’
Rod admitted that they don’t ‘keep in touch anymore’ as Elton had stopped answering his phone calls, despite him inviting his children over.

He detailed: ‘I invited his sons to play on my football pitch and never got a reply. We have not spoken since. He just had a hip op so I wish him well. We still love each other.’
He went on to explain that one of them will make a derogatory comment about the other in the press, which is then returned.
Rod added: ‘We have rows – we sort of almost speak through the press!’

This comes as Rod reportedly ended his ‘spiteful’ fallout with his old pal in January, saying sorry almost three years after they fell out.
Things had become strained in 2018 when the Maggie May rocker poked fun at Elton’s retirement tour and again in 2019 after he made a remark about the biopic based on his career, Rocketman.
However they were thought to have patched things up and be ‘mates again’, with father-of-eight Rod wanting to set a good example for his children by apologising.
Rod and Elton have been friends for around 50 years, with them often making playful comments about each other and even using nicknames Sharon and Phyllis.

Elton addressed their feud in a brand new chapter from the paperback version of his autobiography, Me. The original hardback version was published in October 2019.
In an excerpt obtained by the publication, the legendary musician is said to say that Rod had a ‘f***ing cheek’ lecturing him about ‘rock and roll’.
It reads: ‘I certainly didn’t feel like I needed a lecture on the feral spirit of rock and roll from someone who’d spent most of the last decade crooning his way through the Great American Songbook and Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.’
‘What’s more, I thought he had a f***ing cheek, complaining about me promoting a tour while he was sat on a TV show promoting his own tour.’
According to the publication, Elton goes on to reveal that he reached out to Rod and told him they had ‘known each other far too long to fall out over something like that’
Yet Rod’s manager reportedly told him that he was unable to speak to him on the phone as he was on ‘constant vocal rest’ between touring.
