Ryan Reynolds looks to be in bad spirits on the Massachusetts set of Spirited

Ryan Reynolds puts on a fake smile while he has his arm around a woman who appears to be in great spirits on the Massachusetts set of Spirited

Ryan Reynolds looked to be anything but in the Christmas spirit on the Braintree, Massachusetts set of his upcoming movie musical Spirited on Tuesday.

The 44-year-old’s character could barely muster a smile while standing at a mall with his arm around a pretty woman who smiled from ear to ear.

Spirited is a musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol which follows a miserable misanthrope as he is led on a journey by ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future.

Not very spirited at all: Ryan Reynolds looked to be anything but in the Christmas spirit on the Braintree, Massachusetts set of his upcoming movie musical Spirited on Tuesday

Reynolds wore a black overcoat, a plaid green scarf, gray sweater and black jeans.

The woman he was with had on a plaid coat with skinny jeans and platform boots as well as a black purse.

Principal photography for the Apple TV+ film began earlier this month.

The movie does not yet have a release date but seems unlikely to arrive until Christmas 2022.

The film will also reportedly star comedy heavyweight Will Ferrell as the Ghost of Christmas Present and Academy Award recipient Octavia Spencer in an unknown role.

Honoring Christmas in the heart: Based on his body language on-set though, it seems unlikely Reynolds' will sing many optimistic ballads like Tomorrow ¿ unless the character changes his tune in the third act

Reynolds commemorated the first day of shooting by paying tribute to Ferrell and poking fun at the film’s benefactor.

‘Day 1 of shooting with on of my comedy idols, Will Ferrell. You’d barely notice this was an @ApplyTV movie. Also iOS 14.6 will begin installing in 7 seconds…’ the Canadian-born actor wrote on Instagram under a picture of the two movie stars standing face to face.

The Deadpool actor has the comedic chops to carry a film like spirited but can also sing it turns out. He made in appearance in 2018 on King of Masked Singer in South Korea, a precursor to the American Masked Singer with a very similar premise. The superstar actor sang Tomorrow from Annie while wearing a Unicorn costume.

Based on his body language on-set though, it seems unlikely Reynolds’ character will sing many optimistic ballads like Tomorrow – unless the character changes his tune in the third act.
