San Francisco 49ers make decision on Ricky Pearsall after he was shot in the chest during botched robbery
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall went on the reserve/non-football injury list on Monday.
Over the weekend, Pearsall was shot in the chest during a robbery attempt by a 17-year-old male.
As a result, the 23-year-old rookie wideout will miss at least the first four games of his rookie season after the incident in San Francisco’s Union Square on Saturday.
In order to fill the vacancy on their 53-man roster, the Niners signed offensive tackle Brandon Parker to a one-year deal.
According to the San Francisco Police Department, when the 17-year-old tried robbing Pearsall, a struggle ensued and both were shot.

On Sunday, Pearsall was upgraded to fair condition and was released from the hospital later that day.
The 17-year-old suspect was arrested Saturday as he tried to run from the scene, according to San Francisco police chief William Scott.
The alleged gunman was also hospitalized after the shooting. His condition was not immediately disclosed and charges against him are pending.
Pearsall was at an event earlier Saturday signing autographs before heading to Union Square, according to ABC 7 San Francisco.
The Niners took Pearsall with the 31st pick in April’s NFL Draft and he signed a four-year, $12.5m guaranteed contract with a $5.9m signing bonus.
He was limited this past training camp due to shoulder and hamstring issues, missing all three preseason games. He has a history of shoulder problems stemming from his college days at the University of Florida.
