Strictly fans accuse bosses of trying to ‘sabotage’ HRVY as he performs series’ ONLY Rumba

Strictly Come Dancing viewers have lashed out at the show’s producers, accusing them of ‘stitching up’ HRVY by having him perform this series’ only Rumba.

The 21-year-old musician, who has scored consistently high throughout the series, bagged a relatively low 23 points of a possible 30 for his routine with pro partner Janette Manrara during Saturday night’s semi-final.

And furious fans took to Twitter in droves to rant about the YouTube star taking on a dance with such technical difficulty, while others were handed Couples’ Choice.

Lashing out: Strictly Come Dancing viewers have lashed out at the show’s producers, accusing them of ‘stitching up’ HRVY by having him perform this series’ only Rumba

Wrote one: ‘HRVY was definitely stitched up this week by having the Rumba. The others have got dances that suit them. Really hope he smashes the next dance.’

‘Nobody likes the rumba,’ said another fan on the micro-blogging platform. ‘They just should leave it out of the programme completely. Unfair to make Hrvy & Jntt do it when nobody else has had to.’

Said a third: ‘Why on earth has HRVY got the ONLY rumba of the series, notoriously the hardest dance for male contestants, in the semi final?’

Another stated: ‘Why are they trying to sabotage HRVY by giving him the first rumba of the series during the semifinal?!’

Echoing those sentiments, another said: ‘How is it fair that Hrvy is made to do the only Rumba of the series? It’s notoriously difficult, particular for the male celebs. Feels very unjust. They could have just binned the Rumba this series.’

‘#Strictly is fixed once more,’ charged one viewer. ‘Only one Rumba this series given to a young guy. How unfair for @HRVY He was so good but The #Bbc just can’t resist p***ing the audience off.’

During Saturday’s showl, HRVY and Janette kicked off with the notoriously difficult (for the male) Rumba, dancing to Only You by Kylie Minogue and James Corden.

Despite being consistently good in the competition, his comments were not the best, with Craig remarking that he was ‘slightly off balance through whole dance’, adding his right foot was ‘bothering me’.

While Shirley felt ‘a little bit conflicted’, stating that though ‘certain things were marvellous’, HRVY needed to ‘improve the timing of your body.’ The singer bagged 23 points for the dance.

However, they did bring things back with their second number, dancing a Charleston to Another Day Of Sun by the La La Land Cast.

Meanwhile, Motsi gave HRVY the ultimate compliment, saying that show bosses ‘might ask you back next year as a pro!’

The huge compliments were reflected in the score as, like Maisie, he bagged a whopping 30 points – his second perfect score of the series.

Meanwhile, Maisie Smith topped the leaderboard during Saturday night’s semi-final with a perfect score of 30 points.

The latest instalment of the BBC show saw the competition step up a gear as the remaining five couples were tasked with learning not one but two dances in a bid to make next week’s grand final.

And EastEnders star Maisie, 19, got off to a brilliant start as she and pro partner Gorka Marquez, 30, wowed with the Couple’s Choice hip-hop routine to Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It by Will Smith.

Though HRVY had previously bagged 30 points earlier in the series (and another perfect score this week), it was Maisie’s turn to shine in the semi-final as she gained high praise for her performance.

The actress gave it her all on the dance floor as she and Gorka pulled off a perfectly choreographed routine full of fancy footwork, tricks and plenty of attitude

Strictly Come Dancing continues at 7pm on Sunday on BBC One.
