Graziano Di Prima has revealed Johannes Radebe has asked him to perform a same-sex dance at his wedding, after making history on Strictly Come Dancing.

The Italian star, 26, and Johannes, 33, became the first professionals on the show to perform a same-sex couple dance back in 2019.

And on Thursday’s FUBAR Radio, Graziano, who is engaged to dancer Giada Lini, revealed to hosts Bobby Norris and Stephen Leng how Johnannes wanted to dance once more at his wedding, which is due to take place in July.

‘I said of course!’: Graziano Di Prima has revealed Johannes Radebe has asked him to perform a same-sex dance at his wedding after making history on Strictly Come Dancing

Graziano explained he’s danced with his ‘best friend’ Johannes countless times but that the South African dancer had to ask whether Graziano would be happy to do that at his own wedding.

He said: ‘So today he called me. He told me, “So, I know you are honest with me but tell me something.”

‘I said, “Yeah, tell me.” [He said] “Will you dance with me in front of your parents and everyone?”

‘I said, “Of course!”. We used to dance together every time, every Sunday, when we watched the results show.’

The couple received rave reviews when they danced together during Emile Sande’s performance.

But in the days that followed, the routine led to nearly 300 complaints however a report for the BBC later revealed the complaints wouldn’t be upheld.

Previously speaking about the backlash, Graziano told Attitude Magazine: ‘We weren’t worried about it, OK, there were 200 complaints, but there were millions of people writing to us, sending us videos saying thank you and celebrating our friendship.

‘And for [Johannes], as a gay man, it means the world.’

During the FUBAR interview Graziano put himself forward as the latest male professional wanting to have a male partner in the next series.

Graziano admitted that he’s ‘been ready for four years’ to dance with a man on the BBC show as he said: ‘Dance is for everyone. And I say this in every class, it is for everyone who loves dancing. Dancing was just born to let the people be free and happy.’

Unfortunately for Graziano, he isn’t the first to show interest as fellow pro dancer Giovanni Pernice admitted he’d be up for the ‘challenge’ and Neil Jones told Bobby and Stephen earlier this year that he wouldn’t pass at the opportunity either.

Graziano joined the show in 2018 but has only had a celebrity partner once, radio DJ Vick Hope, who he danced with in his first year.

Despite not having a string of partners, the Italian admitted that it’s still a dream to be on the show: ‘Being already on Strictly as a professional dancer is, I don’t know, it’s a highlight that even if tomorrow it will finish, I will remember for my life.

He continued: ‘And the chance to come back next season, hopefully fingers crossed, for me, I’m already a winner.

‘And I want to enjoy every second of it. I don’t want to plan anything. So that’s why every time they ask me something, for me it’s yes.

‘There are millions of professional dancers around the world that the chance to join Strictly is everything, it’s everything. When they called me for Strictly, I was like, ‘Are you sure. Are you sure you are talking to the right one?’

It’s not yet confirmed whether Graziano or any of the current professional dancers will be part of the show later this year, but he revealed they don’t have much longer to wait to find out: ‘They’re going to call us soon, I think, in the next few weeks.

‘Around the end of February, first weeks of March, usually. This year, I don’t know how it’s going to be, but hopefully.’
