‘We are a great family’: Jason Bell refuses to deny THOSE Nadine Coyle reunion rumours as he responds to speculation of a Strictly return to replace Nicola Adams

He separated from Girls Aloud singer, Nadine Coyle, in 2019 after 11 years together.

But Jason Bell continued to keep fans guessing over rumours he has reunited with his former partner, 35, as he appeared on Steph’s Packed Lunch on Friday.

The athlete, 42, who shares daughter Anaiya, six, with Nadine, confirmed they make a ‘great family’ and addressed speculation he will return to Strictly to replace Nicola Adams, who had to withdraw after her partnerKatya Jones tested positive for Covid.

When asked if he and Nadine will get back together, he cryptically responded: ‘Me and Nadine are a great family, always have been, always will.’

According to the American football player, his daughter was ‘really excited’ when he made his debut on the 2020 series of Strictly.

However, his appearance on the BBC show was short-lived as he was the second contestant to be eliminated alongside his partner, Luba Mushtuk.

He faced-off against Katya Jones and Nicola, 38, in his dance-off, but the duo have subsequently been removed from Strictly after Katya, 31, tested positive for COVID-19.

Jason spoke to Steph McGovern about their shock departure as he said: ‘I’m really more gutted for them.

‘I feel really sad because I know how much effort they put in to prepare to go out there and dance this week and I know everyone wants to go out there and perform and continue on this journey.

‘But, we are in some trying times as a country, as a world with COVID, and it’s just astonishing Strictly has been able to put this show on under these circumstances.’

But Jason quashed speculation himself and Luba could return to the ballroom floor to replace the same-sex couple, after being voted out of the competition last Sunday.

However, he isn’t convinced as he added: ‘I don’t think that’s the rules. I loved the experience, I loved every second but… I got voted off and that’s how it has to be.’

Meanwhile, Strictly veteran Anton Du Beke is confirmed as a replacement judge on Saturday’s forthcoming episode, as he will fill in for Motsi Mabuse who was forced to isolate following an ‘urgent trip’ to Germany.

Jason is sure Anton, 54, will make a great addition to the judging panel.

He concluded: ‘Anton is the man! I love him, he is so cool… He’s going to be amazing, he’s got an unbelievable personality and obviously years and years of experience and dance knowledge.’

Steph’s Packed Lunch airs weekdays at 12.30pm on Channel 4
