Sunrise’s Edwina Bartholomew suffers an embarrassing on-air gaffe by mispronouncing ‘CommSec’

Sunrise presenter Edwina Bartholomew suffered an embarrassing on-air gaffe this week.

While introducing a banking segment, the 37-year-old accidentally pronounced ‘CommSec’ as ‘CommSex’.

After making the mistake, the broadcast journalist awkwardly stuttered as she tried to regain her composure.

The blunder caused some of Sunrise’s other hosts and presenters, including Sam Armytage, to stifle a chuckle.

‘I’m trying to spice things up for you!’ Edwina joked before continuing on with the segment.  

She later shared it to her Instagram page, where it quickly racked up almost 50,000 views.

‘I could not string a sentence together today. I blame it on the festive season. Or kids,’ commented Samantha Brett.

‘Everyone’s gotta pivot @edwina_b it’s like the quickie version of RomCom Sex,’ joked Larry Emdur.

Jules Sebastian left three laughing emojis, while journalist Talitha Cummins wrote: ‘Welcome to parenthood.’

Edwina is currently a doting mum to her one-year-old daughter, Molly.

She spoke about the difficulties of being a first-time mother in an interview with The Daily Telegraph in January.

‘The reality is it is so friggin’ hard. I naively thought after 15 years of shift work and working long days that I would take it all in my stride. But that wasn’t the case really at all,’ she said.
