Sunrise’s Sam Mac films watersports segment after Today host Allison Langdon’s horrific leg injury

Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac films extreme watersports segment – one month after Today’s Allison Langdon suffers horrific leg injury following hydrofoiling accident

Sam Mac filmed an extreme watersports segment for Sunrise on Tuesday, just one month after Allison Langdon suffered a gruesome injury during a Today show stunt.

The 39-year-old weatherman shared a series of videos to his Instagram stories, while jetpacking in Sydney.

The activity involves wearing a jet device on the back, which blasts pressure through nozzles to enable the person to fly as high as 10 metres above the water.

After arriving to the water park in Penrith, Sam shared a video of himself listening to the safety briefing.

The weatherman then posted footage while flying over the water during the activity.

It comes one month after Nine’s Today show host Allison Langdon suffered a horrific leg injury following an on-camera hydrofoiling accident.

During a pre-recorded segment, the co-host ‘badly’ injured her leg while hydrofoiling – a relatively new watersport also known as foil surfing.

Dramatic footage of the accident showed Ally being pulled from the water by her life vest by two male rescuers.

She was taken to hospital where she received treatment and flew back to Sydney on February 5 ahead of her operation.

In a statement to Daily Mail Australia last month, a Channel Nine spokesperson described what had happened as ‘an unfortunate accident’.

‘After nearly an hour of incident-free filming of a segment about hydrofoiling, Ally fell awkwardly as she headed back to the marina at the end of the shoot,’ they said.

The statement added that both Karl and Ally had a ‘comprehensive safety induction and a thorough run-through of all aspects of hydrofoiling.

Allison finally returned to the Today show on Monday after more than a month off following a knee injury sustained during the accident.
