Superman & Lois offers its first look at the Man Of Steel’s chiseled, new costume
Superman has a new look.
Fans of the Man Of Steel got their first look at Tyler Hoechlin in the new series Superman & Lois.
The California-born actor, 33, looked ultra-muscular while donning a textured blue suit and classic red cape as he stood on top of a building in Metropolis.
Heroic: Fans got their first look at Tyler Hoechlin as Superman in the upcoming series Superman & Lois
His hair was swept back in an handsome, All-American man style but a hint of five o’clock shadow along his chiseled jawline offered the look a bit of grit.
The globe of the local newspaper/Clark Kent’s place of work The Daily Planet loomed behind him as he gazed off into the distance.
Leading man Hoechlin talked about Superman’s new look a bit, telling people: ‘I find that the new suit is representative of the show. Just as this suit is unique and set apart from the ones that preceded it, the story we’re telling about Clark/Superman at this point in his life is unique and something we’ve never seen before. I appreciate the opportunity to wear the suit and the responsibility that comes with it.’
‘But it’s always interesting when I’m asked how I feel about “my new suit,” because I’ve always felt that the suit doesn’t belong to me; it belongs to everyone that finds some kind of meaning in that suit, in the symbol on the chest. I just happen to be the one wearing it.’
More than a suit: Talking about what it’s like to wear the iconic suit, Hoechlin said ‘I’ve always felt that the suit doesn’t belong to me; it belongs to everyone that finds some kind of meaning in that suit, in the symbol on the chest. I just happen to be the one wearing it’
Continuing: Hoechin is reprising his role from CW’s Supergirl
‘I come from the world of baseball and a line of coaches that always preached that the name on the front of the jersey is more important than the one on the back. Because when you wear that jersey, it represents not only you, but your entire team, and everyone that has ever worn that jersey that came before you.
‘So when I wear the suit, that’s what it means to me. It represents everything that Superman stands for and has stood for, for almost a century now. And I look forward to carrying on that tradition.’
In the past Christopher Reeve, Dean Cain, Tom Welling, Henry Cavill, Kirk Alyn, and Brandon Routh have played Superman.
The new suit is meant to evoke ‘a classic, timeless vibe that both harkens back to the Superman we all grew up with while grounding him and elevating the suit in a modern arena with updated techniques and applications.’
Through the years… In the past Christopher Reeve (above,) Dean Cain, Tom Welling, Henry Cavill, Kirk Alyn, and Brandon Routh have played Superman.
Superman & Lois was developed by Arrowverse regulars Todd Helbing and Greg Berlanti. Helbing, Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Geoff John will serve as executive producers.
Elizabeth Tulloch stars opposite Hoechlin as Lois, reprising the role she had in the CW’s Supergirl.
Fans can look forward to a two-shot of the leads later this week.
