Channel 10 hails new season of The Bachelorette as the ‘most critically acclaimed’ ever – despite show’s woeful ratings

Ratings for this season of The Bachelorette have gone from bad to worse.

But Channel Ten is still insisting the show is the ‘most critically acclaimed’ season ever despite becoming the lowest rated in the history of the franchise.

In a promo released on Sunday, a voiceover says: ‘It’s the most critically acclaimed series of The Bachelorette ever.’

Not so popular: Channel 10 said The Bachelorette is the ‘most critically acclaimed’ season ever in new promo – despite becoming the lowest rated in the history of the dating franchise

Bachelorette Brooke Blurton tells the camera: ‘It’s the same Brooke, just better style and taste in men and women.’

‘Causing a lot of buzz on social media and the best is yet to come,’ the voiceover then adds.

It comes after the second episode of The Bachelorette on Thursday night become the lowest rated in the history of the dating franchise.

The show drew in a dire 345,000 viewers – 52,000 less than its premiere.

The Bachelorette was beaten in the TV ratings by Home and Away, Seven’s The Chase Australia and Nine’s gaming and reality shows including RBT, Hot Seat and Paramedics.

It was easily outnumbered by 10’s other primetime program Gogglebox, which notched almost double The Bachelorette’s figures with 596,000 viewers.

Channel 10 took in a low audience share of 13.7% and 20.4% for the network for Thursday.

The network revealed in their upfronts earlier this month that both The Bachelorette and The Bachelor would be renewed for 2022.
