The Bachelorette: Brooke Blurton chooses Darvid Garayeli

Brooke Blurton chose Darvid Garayeli as her winner on Thursday’s nights finale of The Bachelorette.

The 26-year-old Youth Worker couldn’t wipe the smile off her face as she announced the news to the hunky ‘Persian Prince’, leaving runner-up Jamie-Lee Dayz devastated.

The new couple were seen sharing a romantic smooch surrounded by an idyllic wilderness setting, with Darvid beaming while dressed in a suave grey suit.

‘From the moment I met you and you came off that lawnmower, you left a massive impression on me,’ Brooke told him.

After bursting into tears, she continued: ‘You came in here and you granted me three wishes. I still have one left. Will you make the happiest girl…’

It’s no surprise that Brooke chose Darvid, who has been bookies’ favourite to win ever since the series began to air.

After their final single date, the 27-year-old landscaper had confessed that he believed Brooke was his soul mate.

‘I truly believe that you are my person,’ he said, before whispering: ‘I love you.’

‘I just love him,’ Brooke then told the camera. ‘I just… do.’

During her heartbreaking break-up with Jamie-Lee, she said: ‘I absolutely think you are beautiful, inside and out. You make me feel like the only girl in the world.

‘I’ve really, really loved exploring the possibility of a relationship, and how beautiful that story. But unfortunately, it’s not ours. My heart is with someone else.’

‘I don’t know what to say,’ she responded. ‘I am happy for you.’

Speaking in the car on the way home, a clearly devastated Jamie-Lee said: ‘If I didn’t explore this with Brooke, I wouldn’t have been able to close this chapter. I’m sad it ended this way.

‘But it just wasn’t meant to be.’

Brooke looked absolutely breath-taking during the finale, waring an unusual lilac dress with a metallic sheen glossed over the top.

The ensemble featured a thigh-high split to show off her slender pins, and she accessorised with a pair of silver stilettos.

This season of The Bachelorette was a history-making one, with both men and women vying for the heart of Brooke – who was the first ever bisexual lead.

And while it was a truly game-changing season, it sadly didn’t do too well in the ratings.

Brooke’s season has seen ratings peak around the 300,000s across the five capital cities.

The Bachelorette premiere clocked in a pitiful 397,000 metro viewers, which lifted slightly to 500,000 nationally.

It bombed across the board, underperforming in all key demographics.

By comparison, last year’s season starring sisters Elly and Becky Miles recorded 628,000 metro viewers – a drop of 36 per cent between the two seasons.

Earlier this month, Brooke’s season sunk to its lowest ratings yet – attracting just 249,000 metro viewers.

And it wasn’t just The Bachelorette which suffered this year, as Jimmy Nicholson’s season – which aired from July to September – recorded dire ratings throughout its entire run.

It had both the lowest season premiere audience figures at 482,000 viewers – only ‘beaten’ by Brooke’s season premiere – and the lowest finale ratings at 629,000.
