The Block: Tanya Guccione urges haters to ‘be kind’ after cheating scandal

She may be the breakout villain on The Block this year, but Tanya Guccione has no time for trolls on social media.

The mother of two, 39, shared a powerful message on Instagram on Wednesday about the importance of being ‘kind’ to people on reality TV.

She hinted she was struggling with anxiety after her role in the cheating scandal was exposed, and reminded her critics ‘you have no idea what a person may be going through’ behind closed doors.

‘Anxiety is real’: The Block villain Tanya Guccione shared a powerful message on Instagram on Wednesday about the importance of being ‘kind’ to people on reality TV

Tanya, who is competing on The Block with husband Vito, shared a photo of herself with ‘Be Kind’ written on her chest and hand, and wrote: ‘#BeKind that’s #MyTruth.

‘Especially when you have no idea what a person may be going through, just be kind!

‘Anxiety, and mental health is real. Some may think they know who we are based on a TV show; those who know us, know us and that’s what matters. Far out…

‘So much to say but that’s all for now.’

Former Block stars Luke and Jasmin Neuwen, who were involved in a scandal of their during the 2020 season when judge Shaynna Blaze accused them of copying their entire children’s bedroom, offered their support in the comments section.

‘Kindness makes the world go round,’ the couple wrote.

‘And if you think about it, when someone is nasty, it says more about them as a person than it does about you.’

The Block 2019 runners-up El’ise and Matt Bothe simply wrote: ‘Love this ❤️.’

The Gucciones found themselves at the centre of a cheating scandal early in the season after Tanya obtained a photo of the show’s production schedule that was on a whiteboard in host Scott Cam’s office.

Anyone who saw the photo would have the advantage of being able to plan their specifications weeks in advance or pre-order something for a specific room.

While the Gucciones and the Packham twins were each docked two points for a room reveal after the scandal was exposed, Tanya has yet to properly explain how she obtained the photo, instead giving a vague story about being sent it by a ‘tradie’.

Some continue to suspect she snuck into Scott’s office and took the photo herself, leading to ongoing tensions on the building site.

It follows reports Tanya and Vito did more than just annoy their rivals on the worksite, with the crew and producers finding them just as infuriating.

The producers were apparently at their wits’ end by the season finale and even described the Gucciones as ‘the most annoying contestants’ in the show’s history.

One crew member who has worked on The Block for a decade said they were ‘frustrating’ because they would often ‘say one thing and then do another’.

And to make matters worse, the controversial duo didn’t seem to understand how much of the process needed to be filmed.

Vito in particular often became impatient with cameras recording their every move.

‘It is hard to know if they were purposely trying to ruffle feathers or if they simply can’t read a room,’ another source told Daily Mail Australia.

‘Sure, there are big personalities every year, but most of the time when the cameras stop rolling, everyone gets along and understands it’s just a TV show.

‘Mitch [Edwards] and Mark [McKie], who have prior experience on The Block, said they hadn’t seen anything like Tanya and Vito’s behaviour on the show before.

‘It has nothing to do with being competitive; it’s that you can’t trust what they say.’

One of the biggest complaints from crew members was the Gucciones’ lack of honesty regarding the cheating scandal.

The contestants were understandably keen to know the full story, but the producers were also desperate to get to the bottom of what happened.

‘I don’t know who wanted the truth more, the cast or the crew,’ a source said.

While some viewers speculated the cheating scandal was ‘set up’ for ratings, Daily Mail Australia understands it was in fact genuine and treated ‘seriously’ on site.

‘The Gucciones are still massively under fire about how they obtained the photos from Scotty’s white board,’ the insider added.

‘Only time will tell if the couple’s behaviour has any impact on auction day, but the feeling on set is that they probably won’t be winning The Block.’

The Block continues Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel Nine
