The Larkins FIRST LOOK: Bradley Walsh dons 1950s costume as he joins son Barney – who plays PC Harness – on set of Darling Buds of May reboot as they film Christmas special


Bradley Walsh was seen in character as Pop Larkin as he filmed ITV’s The Larkins in Kent last week.

Donning full 1950s attire, Bradley, 61, was joined by his 23-year-old son Barney (who plays policeman PC Harness) on the show’s set on Wednesday as they acted out scenes for The Larkins’ Christmas special.

Bradley was also photographed with co-star Joanna Scanlan – who plays his wife Ma Larkin on the show – with the 59-year-old actress wearing an eye-catching, bright green dress.

Bradley and Joanna were seen walking arm-in-arm near two beautiful grey horses.

Chatting away to actress Natalie Mitson (Pauline Jackson), Barney was in his element while filming scenes for the upcoming Christmas special.

Natalie also appeared in high spirits and donned a bold leopard print coat.

The ITV sitcom is based upon the retro series The Darling Buds of May and follows a working-class family living in 1950s Kent.

It comes after Barney’s appearance on Sunday’s The Larkins sparked delight amongst viewers.

The Breaking Dad star made his unforeseen entrance after Mariette (played by Sabrina Bartlett) and her sister Primrose (Lydia Paige) asked a nearby police officer for help in finding a young man.

It certainly wasn’t long before frenzied fans flooded Twitter with posts about the unexpected emergence.

One wrote, ‘Well done very good bradley walsh like the idea of a sort of prequel for episode one- the lady playing ma was spot on- nice seeing barney as the copper!#TheLarkins [sic].’

Another chimed in, ‘Nice appearance from Barney Walsh in tonight’s #TheLarkins.’

A third added, ‘And it took me a good minute to realise the policeman is Barney Walsh.’

‘#TheLarkins Isn’t the policeman, Bradley’s son?’ and, ‘Bradley and Barney Walsh, brilliant #TheLarkins,’ concluded others.
