The Voice: Girl band G-Nat!on divide viewers as some claim their audition ‘isn’t fair’

‘How can you compare one voice with a group?’ The Voice’s girl band G-Nat!on divide viewers as some claim their audition ‘isn’t fair’ while others say they’re the ‘next big thing’

The Voice viewers were left divided on Sunday night, as girl band G-Nat!on wowed the coaches with their show-stopping rendition of 5 Seconds of Summer‘s Teeth.

The Adelaide band – consisting of six ladies aged between 17 and 18 – made history as the largest group ever to take part on the show, and the only group to audition this season.

But while some were in awe of band members Isla Ward, 17, Taylah Silvestri, 18, Emma Caporaso, 18, Mateja Sardelis, 16, Alessia Musolino, 17 and Rylee Vormelker, 17, others thought it was ‘unfair’ that they sang as a team rather than individually.

‘I like @TheVoiceAU but am already feeling a bit annoyed that a GROUP auditioned. It’s not fair when it’s meant to be individual voices,’ one viewer fumed.

‘How do you compare one voice with a group who can sing harmonies & create a different stage presence?’

‘The voice or the voices? Needs to be a seperate category for groups,’ another added.

‘Groups shouldn’t be allowed to compete,’ a third chimed in.

‘#TheVoiceAU is so organised and not so much one take for the judges. Must be rehearsed. How does the girl group (first time) come on and have the choreography to position themselves on the steps etc perfectly,’ one critic queried.

‘They’re so good but I definitely think there should be another competition with groups!!’ another echoed.

Others defended the girls, with one writing: ‘Look, this is The Voice. I’ve never been against groups so whats the problem? Thats the way it is.

‘You could do Australia’s Got Talent but there really isn’t a show for singers anymore but The Voice.’

‘Never been a girl group like this in Aus before I don’t think! WOW!! I am seriously impressed with these girls G-NAT!ON is the nation to be in,’ another chimed in.

Adored: Others said the girls were going to be the 'next big thing', and praised their powerhouse performance

‘The world’s ready for a new girl group and I think AUS just found them,’ one fan added.

All four coaches turned around for the ladies, with Rita Ora even getting up on-stage to say she wanted to become a member of the band.

‘You guys are honestly so exciting for me, and I feel like this is the beginning of my life. I feel so excited I can’t even speak,’ she said.

‘I swear to you, if you come with me I promise I will take you all the way. You guys have it, and I see it. The whole thing from the style to the sass, to the swag. I will help you navigate this ship that you are on – and it’s not going to sink on Team Rita.’

The ladies agreed, and joined Rita’s team within seconds.

The Voice continues Monday at 7:30pm on Channel Seven
