Tim Paine and wife Bonnie reconnect on a family holiday in Coolangatta following sexting scandal

Embattled cricketer Tim Paine and his wife Bonnie are reconnecting on an idyllic family holiday in Queensland, following his shock sexting scandal.

And the couple looked stronger than ever on Monday as they headed to the beach in Coolangatta with their daughter Milla, four, and son Charlie, two.

Putting on a united front, the doting parents spent the day wading in the water and playing with their children in the sand.

Tim Paine, 37, and his wife Bonnie, 36, put on a united front at the beach during a family holiday with their daughter Milla, four, and son Charlie, two, in Coolangatta, Queensland, on Monday.

Bonnie showcased her svelte physique in a bright red bandeau bikini, while completing her look with a white baseball cap.

The nurse appeared to go makeup-free and tied her blonde locks into a low chignon.

Former cricket captain Tim meanwhile looked fit as a fiddle, sporting a pair of black swim trunks and a matching cap.

As the day came to an end, Tim and Bonnie made their way to an outdoor shower to wash off.

They took turns beneath the faucet, with Bonnie taking the opportunity to give her hair a wash.

Midway through her shower, Bonnie was seen posing for a happy snap with her children, while Tim acted as photographer.

Bonnie subsequently uploaded the shots to her Instagram page, choosing not to include a picture of Tim nor make reference to his presence during the outing.

Instead, she simply captioned the photos: ‘Much needed summer holiday with my favourites. Back to reality tomorrow.’

The Paine’s beach trip came a day after Tim’s brother Nick lashed out at Cricket Australia, claiming Tim was ‘shafted’ after being prevented from finishing his career with an Ashes victory following his sexting scandal.

Posting to social media on Sunday night, following Australia’s Ashes win against England, Nick wrote: ‘Pretty hard to watch this knowing full well that one of the key people in resurrecting the reputation of Cricket Australia and this team was shafted by that very same organisation because of a personal mistake he made nearly 4 years ago.’

‘He deserved this send off on his home ground in front of his family, friends and his long time supporters.’

Nick claimed it was a ‘real shame’ that ‘one mistake in life’ could end one person’s career, describing the situation as ‘gut wrenching stuff’.

Tim stepped down as Australia’s Test captain on November 19 after a sexting scandal in which he sent a lewd photo and explicit messages to a female staffer.

He was investigated by Cricket Australia in 2018 after the woman complained, but was cleared of misconduct and the matter was kept secret.

Paine sent a photo of his penis to the female co-worker along with a stream of lewd text messages, many of which are too raunchy to publish.

‘Will you want to taste my d**k?? F**k me, I’m seriously hard,’ one of the messages sent to the Cricket Tasmania employee read.

Paine, who had led the team since the Sandpapergate scandal in 2018, held a press conference at which he tearfully apologised and announced he would step down.

‘It’s an incredibly difficult decision, but the right one for me, my family, and cricket,’ he told reporters.

Bonnie stood by her husband after privately being told of the sexting investigation in 2018, and insisted they’d moved past it.

Her Instagram bio still proudly says she’s ‘Wifey to Tim’.

Bonnie said the scandal had actually been ‘good for their marriage’ in the long run, even though she was ‘completely rocked’ by his betrayal.

She also admitted she felt bad for him after he was forced to stand down as Australia’s test cricket captain.

In an interview in November, Bonnie said she’d already ‘had her time’ of ‘getting angry, venting and getting upset’ but decided in 2018 to put the incident behind them – and that by doing so, their marriage was stronger than ever.

‘I have a bit of sympathy for Tim at the moment. A lot actually. He and I went through all of this privately in 2018. It was horrific then and is really hard now,’ she told The Daily Telegraph.

The timing of the matter left Bonnie feeling frustrated more than anything at the ‘injustice’ of having their private struggles dragged out all over again.

‘We put it to bed years ago… I remember feeling angry because we had a little girl who wasn’t too old… Tim and I had been in a long relationship, it’d been 10 years and God knows we had our ups and downs… but I was still completely rocked,’ she said.

Addressing Paine, she added: ‘You telling me was a huge progression for us. You kept everything so secretive prior to that. Weirdly, this mess has actually helped our relationship.’

Paine later announced he was taking an indefinite break from the sport.

On November 26, his manager tweeted: ‘Confirming that Tim is stepping away from cricket for an indefinite mental health break.

‘We are extremely concerned for his and Bonnie’s well-being and will be making no further comment at this time.’
