‘The bottom line’ is Hunter ADMITS the laptop is his: Top Republicans say they aren’t swayed by tactics of Biden’s son’s lawyers – and vow to get to the bottom of family’s ‘influence-peddling
- Republicans James Comer, Ted Cruz and Ron Johnson sounded off to DailyMail.com about Hunter Biden’s lawyer calling for DOJ probes
- Attorney Abbe Lowell urged the department to investigate Giuliani and Bannon
- The lawyer also said the letter he sent to DOJ is not proof that the explosive laptop allegedly belonging to Hunter Biden was his
Republican lawmakers indicated to DailyMail.com on Thursday that they’re unperturbed by the aggressive new strategy rolled out by Hunter Biden‘s legal team to combat a litany of inquiries into his foreign business dealings.
It comes after his attorney, Abbe Lowell, wrote to the Justice Department calling for investigations into Rudy Giuliani and Donald Trump‘s former adviser Steve Bannon, as well as former computer repair store owner John Paul Mac Isaac.’
Lowell accuses them of having ‘violated various Delaware laws in accessing, copying, manipulating, and/or disseminating Mr. Biden’s personal computer data’ with the regards to the laptop hard drive at the center of a firestorm of controversy for President Joe Biden‘s family.
Asked for his reaction on Thursday, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer told DailyMail.com that Hunter Biden’s private lawyer appeared ‘very active’ in the former drug addict’s defense.
He suggested that the letter – and others sent out by Lowell to hit back at the probes into his client – was a topic of discussion that morning between him and his committee’s general counsel.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer told reporters that he has no plans to reach out to Hunter Biden’s team regarding his investigation
Comer also told reporters that he hasn’t had any contact with anyone on Hunter Biden’s side – and signaled that he doesn’t plan to seek them out.
‘Why would we? This is a Joe Biden investigation,’ the Oversight chair said. ‘This is a narrow investigation. We’re investigating influence peddling by the Biden family.’
‘So what I’ve tried to do is be transparent, as best I can with my limited ability here, that the the bank records are what we’re interested in – because of the emails, text messages, WhatsApp messages, and then the whistleblowers that we’ve been communicating with that were involved in the Biden family orbit.’
All of those files were recovered from a laptop hard drive supposedly belonging to the president’s son. Isaac has recounted multiple times that he accessed the contents of Hunter Biden’s private laptop when it was dropped off at his Delaware repair shop for water damage and never recovered.
President Biden’s only living son has been hit with multiple probes over his foreign business dealings
Hunter Biden attorney Lowell later told CBS News that the letters sent ‘do not confirm Mac Isaac’s or others’ versions of a so-called laptop.’
But Senate Republicans indicated to DailyMail.com that they disagree.
‘It’s an admission that it really is Hunter Biden’s laptop, isn’t it?’ Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson said of the DOJ letter.
‘I’m not a lawyer, but my understanding of the law custody is, when he abandoned it, it was no longer his.’
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz warned Justice officials against pursuing the recommendation.
‘When the Biden Justice Department is being widely, and I think rightly, criticized for being overly partisan and having a double standard based on political objectives, it might not be the best idea in the world for DOJ to follow the prosecution choices of the president’s own son who himself is facing threat of indictment on multiple fronts,’ Cruz said.
