TV ratings war set to kick off with The Voice Generations to go head-to-head against Married At First Sight and Survivor Australia: Blood v Water


The official ratings year kicks off next month on February 6. 

And this year will see three ratings giants go head-to-head, with new format The Voice Generations up against two established shows from rival networks: Married At First Sight and Survivor Australia: Blood v Water.

It’s on! This year will see three ratings giants go head-to-head, with new format The Voice Generations (right) up against two established shows from rival networks: Married At First Sight and Survivor Australia: Blood v Water (left)

The Voice Generations kicks off on January 31, before the show’s main format returns later in the year. 

Married At First Sight is the number two network Nine’s big drawcard.

Meanwhile, after an impressive showing from Australian Survivor in 2021, the Ten Network is betting on a strong showing from Survivor Australia: Blood v Water.

The Voice Generations will see singers of all ages come together to perform over the course of one week.

And in a first look at the latest iteration of the talent show, Jessica Mauboy grows emotional at one father-daughter performance.

In the sneak peek, dad Tim and daughter Caitlyn perform a duet of the A Star Is Born song Shallows.

Former gymnast Caitlyn reveals that singing with her dad is ‘definitely something bringing us closer together.’

Tim is then seen tearing up, to which Caitlyn says, ‘Oh, he’s getting emotional.’

Father and daughter then perform their rendition of the Lady Gaga hit from A Star Is Born.

In the 2018 film, the duet is performed by Gaga and co-star Bradley Cooper.

‘I see that connection, that love, that bond,’ says Mauboy in her appraisal, her voice cracking with emotion.

‘It’s absolutely amazing. Nothing like it,’ adds the coach.  

Mauboy is one of the newest additions to The Voice Australia’s impressive roster of coaches.

The 32-year-old recently showed how invested she is in the singing competition, breaking down in tears during a new trailer for The Voice Generations.

‘To land on this stage and perform like that, was absolutely outstanding,’ she told one young contestant with tears in her eyes. 

‘[There’s] nothing like it,’ she continued. 

Generations will see the nation’s greatest voices from different age demographics come together to perform over the course of one week.
