Eurovision fans from the UK have been left furious after Australia gave Britain zero point in the grande finale on Saturday night.

The Australian judging panel included Executive Producer of Sounds Australia Millie Millgate, singer Kamahl, Channel Nine reporter Brooke Boney, radio host Ash London and Australia’s Got Talent winner Jack Vidgen.

The jury put Malta in first place with 12 points followed by Switzerland with 10 points but scored Britain zero.

‘Best Eurovision in years, even the betrayal from Ireland and Australia. Invasion plans are being drawn one in the morning I’m hearing,’ one person jokingly Tweeted.

Another wrote: ‘Eurovision has always been political, now we definitely have no chance. Can someone explain what Australia are doing giving points to Europe?’

‘Even Australia gave us 0 points at Eurovision despite using being very generous with the Australia Trade Deal. Boris Johnson should cancel the deal now,’ another said.

One person joked: ‘Ireland and Australia Eurovision juries… You’ve been kind in the past. Next year scratch a back for a point at least, yeah? Will send back possibly with interest. Regards, the UK.’

‘Even Australia gave us (the UK) 0 points in tonight’s Eurovision. I’m only glad that the US and Canada didn’t get to vote,’ another said.

Meanwhile, Måneskin from Italy took out the grand final, by scoring 524 points with their song Ziitti e buoni.

The win marked Italy’s first victory since 1990 when Toto Cutugno took the top prize.

The Eurovision singing competition returned after last year was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

It was held in Rotterdam, Netherlands in front of smaller live audiences than usual.
