Writing in her column for The Sun, she penned: ‘The point is, the older women are finally doing it for themselves. We’ve been waiting in the wings for so long, waiting to be raised up and appreciated.

‘We have been overlooked for decades and now is our time to step out of the shadows and be acknowledged. It’s like we’ve started a new club, subconsciously but very deliberately.

‘This has been a quiet but long-overdue revolution of age battling perception because, ultimately, it’s in our power to be what we want to be.’

Ulrika admitted she has stopped looking at twenty-something ‘wannabes’ on social media who she believes are all projecting the same things.

The former Celebrity Big Brother star was full of praise for Amanda Holden who recently shared a stunning snap of herself donning a teal swimsuit, saying it was ‘refreshing’ to see a woman in her sixth decade don a one-piece.

She also noted Lizzie Cundy, 52, entertaining her social media followers during lockdown with a variety of scantily clad snaps and said Jennifer Lopez’s figure is ‘aspirational’.

Ulrika hailed Davina McCall for inspiring people to get fit by regularly showcasing her washboard abs and said Madonna would rival any 25-year-old with her body.

The broadcaster wrote that the women have all worked hard for their bodies and she loves to see them proudly showing off for the camera.

Ulrika said she has also pushed her own boundaries during lockdown and taken some raunchy snaps herself.

The presenter explained that most of her days lately have been spent doing housework and gardening but she plans on doing it all in a ‘G-string’ from now on.

Ulrika’s words come shortly after she showcased her slender figure on Thursday as she stripped down to her white bikini for a sultry mirror selfie.

The TV presenter concealed her face with her phone as she displayed her physique in the skimpy halterneck two-piece on her Instagram stories.

Meanwhile, Ulrika sent a flirty message to former boyfriend James Crossley on Wednesday evening as she watched him take part in reality show The Circle.

The Swedish presenter enjoyed a brief, ‘physical’ romance with bodybuilder Crossley, who is six years her junior, while they both worked on the hugely popular Saturday night show Gladiators in 1996.

Crossley – best known to fans as musclebound Hunter – is now taking part in Channel 4’s innovative new reality show, and Ulrika ensured she tuned to watch his latest exploits on Wednesday evening.

Taking to Instagram, the thrice-married mother-of-four shared a screen shot of her former boyfriend in action alongside an affectionate message.

Captioning the image – a close up of Crossley’s face – she wrote: ‘It’s too late at night for me to watch but he can be cute.’

The presenter later shared a second image of the fitness nut, who was eliminated during Wednesday’s show – in which contestants take on fake identities and communicate via a social media app – after masquerading as fictional NHS nurse Gemma.

Ulrika enjoyed a brief fling with Crossley following her divorce from first husband, cameraman John Turnbull, after five-years of marriage.

The pair met while she co-hosted Gladiators alongside former Wimbledon footballer John Fashanu, with Crossley’s alter-ego Hunter being one of the athletes competing against members of the public in physical challenges.

The relationship was denied at the time but Ulrika eventually discussed their connection in her 2003 autobiography, Honest.

She said: ‘Well, I guess I was infatuated with James. It was a physical thing. And what a nice man he turned out to be!’
