Prior to the holidays, Vanessa had been working in New York City to film her upcoming musical adaptation Tick, Tick… Boom!, which also features her friend Alexandra Shipp.

The film is the directorial debut of Hamilton mastermind Lin-Manuel Miranda and is based on the quasi-autobiographical musical written by Jonathan Larson, best known for writing Rent.

Vanessa had originally begun filming in March, but it shut down shortly afterward due to the pandemic, before returning to production from October through November.
