Where is Dieter Brummer now? Home and Away star who played Shane Parris has ditched acting in favour of a VERY different career path

He played Shane Parris in one of Australia’s most iconic soaps, Home and Away, in the 1990s.

But Dieter Brummer, now 44, has since ditched acting in favour of a completely different career path.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the former soap star now runs his own window cleaning business – and is out of the acting scene for good.

He had previously hit headlines following his stint on the show, for his long-running feud with the actress who played his on-screen wife, Angel Brooks (Melissa George).

While they looked like the perfect couple on the show, their relationship away from the soap was far from idyllic.

‘There was a lot of pressure on us. We had to look like the perfect, darling couple in public,’ Dieter told news.com.au in 2018.

‘It wasn’t like anything off screen. It was all on screen.’

Dieter made headlines in 2012 after revealing he hated working with Melissa and even asked producers to kill off his character so he could escape her diva demands.

He told Woman’s Day at the time: ‘We may have been love interests on the show but the chemistry was far from real!’

Meanwhile, Melissa has made no secret of the fact she resents her involvement in the classic Australian soap.

In 2012, she famously denounced her legacy as a Home and Away alumnus in an interview that has haunted her ever since.

‘I don’t need credibility from my country anymore. I just need them all to be quiet,’ she snapped.

‘If they have nothing intelligent to say, please don’t speak to me anymore. I’d rather be having a croissant and an espresso in Paris or walking my French bulldog in New York City.’
