They have undeniable chemistry onscreen, so it’s only natural that Sam Frost and Nicholas Cartwright would spark romance rumours in real-life.

Nicholas stars on the long-running soap as Senior Constable Cash Newman, and plays love interest to Sam’s Jasmine Delaney.

Rumoured romance: They have undeniable chemistry onscreen, so it’s only natural that Sam Frost and Nicholas Cartwright would spark romance rumours in real-life

The onscreen couple sparked romance rumours on Saturday, after Sam, 32, shared a series on cosy photos with Nicholas on Instagram.

‘I mean… we’re pretty much the same person. Except I’m way funnier @_nicholas_cartwright_,’ Sam captioned the post.

She later clarified: ‘Edit: This is not my boyfriend. This is my dear friend who plays my on-screen partner on H&A…

‘But I agree, we are adorable. Lucky to work alongside such a wonderful person who always has my back.’

Before landing his role on Home and Away, Nicholas served as a rifleman in the Australian Army for six years.

In an interview with PerthNow back in June, he admitted he had ‘zero television experience’ before being cast in the beloved TV series.

After deployments in East Timor and Afghanistan, Nicholas admitted he felt ‘lost’ after retiring from the army.

‘You can kind of feel a little lost when you get out of the defence force, and no one wants to do a normal job,’ he told PerthNow.

‘So I thought, what’s the craziest thing I can do, and decided to go to NIDA [National Institute of Dramatic Art].’

While studying at NIDA, he met Ethan Browne, who stars in Home and Away as Tane Parata, and the two formed an enduring friendship.

‘When I heard there was a search for a new cop in the bay, I instantly thought of this man,’ Ethan, 30, wrote on Instagram shortly after Nicholas was cast.

‘Perfect for the role, and he bloody well got it! One of the hardest working people I’ve met and so deserving! Super proud of you, brother.’

But in an interview with Stuff in July, Nicholas admitted he almost pursued an entirely different career path after leaving the army.

‘When I got out, I was looking at joining the police or the fire department, different government institutions that reminded me of the military,’ he explained.

‘Then, as I got deeper into my civilian life post-military, I started getting drawn towards the creative arts and wasn’t really sure what I was going to do about it because it didn’t seem like a viable career to me.

‘Then, one day, I just decided to bite the bullet and head to NIDA and do a three-year course.’

According to his NIDA profile, Nicholas ‘was involved in acting and music from a very young age’, and ‘left his career as a singer in a rock/blues band to join the Australian Army’.

Speaking to Stuff, Nicholas admitted he was still dealing with his newfound fame, and said several of his co-stars had ‘offered some really good practical advice’.

‘The exposure the show gets is nothing like I’ve ever been used to before but, having said that, I’m really excited by it all and it’s a real privilege to be here,’ he added.

‘It takes a village. Extremely proud and excited to go live with my new family @homeandaway in the coming days. Can’t thank the cast and crew enough for helping me out along the way,’ he wrote at the time.
