You’ll never guess what Anita from Heartbreak High looks like now! Actress Lara Cox has hardly aged a day since the ’90s – as she weighs in on the upcoming Netflix reboot

It’s been more than two decades since she played Anita Scheppers in ’90s drama series Heartbreak High.

But actress Lara Cox looks like she’s hardly aged a day since her first brush with fame as a teenager.

Speaking to New Idea on Wednesday, the youthful 42-year-old said she wouldn’t be opposed to returning to the fictional Hartley High for the upcoming reboot.

When asked if she’d like a cameo in the Netflix series, which is slated for a 2022 release, she said: ‘Yeah! I loved Heartbreak High. It was a beautiful experience.’

‘I think it’s amazing that people still remember it and speak so fondly of it.’

Since appearing in the hit series, Lara has welcomed two sons, Max and Jay, with her husband, Jeff Springer.

She has continued to act in TV commercials and filmed several guest role on Home and Away. 

Heartbreak High ran for seven seasons on Channel 10 and ABC from 1994 to 1999, and followed the lives of a group of students at Hartley High, a fictional school in a multicultural suburb of Sydney.

The show was well ahead of its time, and featured issues such sex, drugs, racism, religion, family, education and homelessness in its storylines. 

The drama, which also aired in Britain, launched the careers of Ada Nicodemou and Callan Mulvey, among others.

Lara has remained in contact with several of her co-stars, including her on-screen love interest and ex-boyfriend Callan Mulvey (Bogdan Drazic), as well as Danny Rocco (Marco Vialli) and Marcel Bracks (Lee Delaine).  

‘I had dinner with Danny and Cal and Marcel about two months ago because Cal was in town,’ she told New Idea. 

‘So we went to Danny’s and all caught up and checked in on each other’s lives. 

‘Danny he lives around the corner from me, so our kids spend time together and his daughter is a day older than my littlest boy so they get along very well. He’s lovely.’  

Earlier this month, Netflix announced an eight-episode Heartbreak High reboot, which will air in 2022. It’s unclear if any of the original cast members will be involved.
