10 biggest stars who could join Premier League this summer in huge transfers

The summer transfer window is in full force around the globe as we enter the final month for clubs to wrap up any remaining business.

Massive deals have already gone through, but there are still many mega-deals in the balance.

Premier League champions Manchester City are reportedly on the brink of sealing a domestic record £100m transfer for Aston Villa star Jack Grealish.

That would eclipse their city rivals, Manchester United, who splashed out a whopping £73m move to prise Jadon Sancho away from Borussia Dortmund.

The England ace isn’t likely to be the Premier League’s only new arrival from overseas.

Here, Mirror Football looks at 10 superstars who could be set to join the top-flight this summer.

1. Erling Haaland – Borussia Dortmund

Norwegian megastar Erling Haaland has been the most in-demand man during this transfer window.

Chelsea have been chasing the Borussia Dortmund striker all summer long, but they are open to biding their time in order to seal his signature.

Haaland’s pricetag stands at a sensational £150m – meaning any deal would far eclipse the Sancho and Grealish fees as the biggest of the summer.

That price is set to drop drastically next year though, with Haaland’s £68million release clause coming into play, which could tempt the Blues to wait.

But with boss Thomas Tuchel desperate for more firepower, a blockbuster move for Haaland this summer can’t be ruled out.

2. Romelu Lukaku – Inter Milan

Belgium star Romelu Lukaku is being lined up for a Stamford Bridge return

Inter Milan star Romelu Lukaku has been the subject of intense interest from former club Chelsea this summer.

The Belgian hotshot spent a miserable three-year spell in London earlier in his career but has been lined up for a return after excelling in Italy.

The 28-year-old netted 24 goals last year to help the Italian side win Serie A for the first time in 11 years and is believed to be happy with life in Milan.

But that hasn’t deterred Blues owner Roman Abramovich from pressing on with an attempt to lure the striker back to Stamford Bridge – even sending his son out to the Italian capital to try and sell Lukaku on the £110m move.

3. Saul Niguez – Atletico Madrid

Athletico Madrid star Saul Niguez appears to be on the brink of a switch to the Premier League, with United and Liverpool scrapping to secure his services.

Mirror Football revealed that the Spanish midfielder’s representatives are set to jet into the UK on Monday to thrash out his future.

The 26-year-old will be allowed to leave Spain for a fee between £35m and £40m, which has put the two English giants on red alert.

Both have uncertainty in their midfield ranks which will see them battle for the Spaniard.

Question marks are still lingering over the future of United midfielder Paul Pogba, whilst Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson is currently locked in a contract stalemate with the club.

4. Lautaro Martinez – Inter Milan

Lautaro Martinez has also been linked with an exit from Inter with Arsenal lurking

Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has turned into a wanted man this summer, with Arsenal lining up the Argentinian as an attacking target.

The 23-year-old netted an impressive 17 goals in Serie A last season and fits the bill for Gunners boss Arteta as he looks to build an assault on the top four.

Despite that interest, the Emirates hierarchy are reluctant to meet Inter’s eye-watering £77m asking price.

The Italians are under no pressure to sell, which means Arsenal will either have to stump up big money or get creative if they are to lure the Argentine hotshot to the Premier League, with La Liga champions Athletico Madrid also lurking.

5. Martin Odegaard – Real Madrid

Martin Odegaard has been linked with a return to the Premier League since pretty much the second his temporary stint at Arsenal ended.

The Real Madrid winger enjoyed a fruitful six-month spell in North London, with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta earmarking Odegaard as his primary transfer target.

But the situation has been complicated by the appointment of a new boss at Real Madrid, with Carlo Ancelotti keen to run the rule over the Norwegian forward.

According to ESPN, the Spanish giants are now reluctantly ready to sanction a move – although Arsenal will face competition to land the £42.5m man from Premier League rivals Chelsea and Liverpool.

6. Eduardo Camavinga – Rennes

Eduardo Camavinga has quickly become one of the most coveted youngsters in football.

The Rennes academy graduate has sparkled in Ligue 1 since making his debut for the club at just 16 and has since gone on to break through into the French senior squad.

Liverpool and United are again both credited with an interest in the teenage phenomenon, who could be available for a cut-price fee.

Camavinga is in the final 12 months of his contract, which could see the French outfit forced to sanction a departure now rather than lose him for free next summer.

7. Jules Kounde – Sevilla

Sevilla defender Jules Kounde’s switch to the Premier League with Chelsea looks to be gathering pace.

Blues’ boss Tuchel is gearing up for a crack at the title after steering Chelsea to Champions League glory back in May and he’s now hopeful of bolstering his backline with the 22-year-old.

The West London are believed to be on the verge of sealing a mega £68m deal for the French centre-back, who they see as a long-term replacement for Thiago Silva.

The Stamford Bridge outfit are on the verge of sanctioning a departure for Kurt Zouma, which would leave them light in central defence having already sold Fikayo Tomori this summer.

Chelsea missed out on Sergio Ramos earlier in the window having already been beaten to the signature of David Alaba by Real Madrid.

Seeing Man Utd land Raphael Varane has only heightened their search for a dependable centre-back, and Kounde now seems to be their ideal target.

8. Leon Bailey – Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen look set to lose exciting Jamaican winger Leon Bailey to the Premier League as Aston Villa close in on a £30m deal.

Villa are expected to say goodbye to their own talisman Grealish and have moved quickly to source a replacement in Bailey.

The 23-year-old has dazzled in the Bundesliga, with a return of nine goals and nine assists last term.

He will be tasked, along with £35m record Villa buy Emi Buendia, with filling the boots of Grealish in his debut season in the Premier League.

9. Manuel Locatelli – Juventus

Manuel Locatelli has captured the attention of Europe after impressing for Euro 2020 champions Italy.

The 23-year-old has been chased by Arsenal as boss Arteta seeks fresh faces in midfield, but they have reportedly struggled to come to an agreement with Locatelli’s current club, Sassuolo.

Italian giants Juventus are also keen on Locatelli and have reportedly bid for the ace, but his future remains up in the air, with Liverpool now also keeping tabs on his situation.

10. Houssem Aouar – Arsenal

Houssem Aouar has been linked with a move to the Emirates for over a year

Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar has been linked with Arsenal for what feels like an eternity now.

Talk initially came about last summer but have rumbled on throughout the year after no move materialised.

Gunners boss Arteta is known to be in the market for another attacking midfielder this summer, and Aouar may fit the bill after the French outfit slashed their asking price from last year.

It’s believed the Frenchman could be available for as little as £17m.
