Alexandre Lacazette completes Lyon return after Arsenal contract expires

Lacazette came through Lyon’s academy and scored 129 goals in 279 appearances before the club before moving to the Emirates in a £50million deal in the summer of 2017.

The France international’s contract in north London expired at the end of the campaign, allowing him to depart as a free agent, and he has now penned a three-year deal back with his former side.

Mikel Arteta is targeting at least one centre-forward signing this summer, with Manchester City star Gabriel Jesus considered the club’s No1 target.

The Spaniard was facing the prospect of going into the summer with youngster Folrain Balogun as his only recognised striker, but Eddie Nketiah is now expected to sign a new contract after a fine end to the season after he displaced Lacazette during the run-in.
